Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2dAercv
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2dUWP8h
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post - amzn.to/2e2AVVt
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2dFuPZg
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2dApDpp
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2fzEYE1

Needed this. I just spent a month straining over a TV script and just submitted it in the early hours of the morning. I want to go back onto my plays. I certainly never thought that playwriting was 'tell not show' because 'show don't tell' is advice they ALWAYS give writers no matter what. Good to know that not all writing advice is applicable to all mediums.

If you need a male black African American actor with dreads that is the age 15 I would love to be a actor for you if your willing to take that chance on me

@@isaiahbeckles1911 I'm in the UK. I haven't written anything for an american actor and I'm just getting started anyway. You should find a local theatre group and appear in as many things as possible. many actors who can't get a break actually write their own plays or monologues - see michaela coel's 'chewing gum' or phoebe waller-bridge's 'fleabags' (the plays not the tv shows they became). That's the only way they were ever going to get to be the star of their own show. If I was 15 again, I would do those things. You need things to put on your CV and a showreel. Take my advice - do not wait to be 'found', do not wait for a person to take a chance on you. Like I said, write a play you can star in. Then you don't need to look for a playwright, just a producer. Join your local theatre group and also find a bigger theatre that has a youth group linked to it. See if you can find someone to put on your play. I wish you well Isaiah but you will succeed if you are determined.

Live is PERFORMANCE… movies are COMPOSITION. Yes, performance are “captured” but those shots are edited, manipulated, refined… mostly cut (eliminated) and the audience KNOWS that… no one gets “killed” in a movie… that’s why onstage - during a LIVE performance - you cannot be to “realistic” because the audience will come out of the “let’s all make believe” and be distracted out of fear for the actor… takes a lot to wrap one’s head around that… most can’t!

Once you write one, the process becomes easier. Working on my second and third plays.

Is it bad that I'm writing a stage play and using advice from this channel for it? I feel they're not that different when in script form. Because other than what the lad above said and writing screenplays with your eyes and writing stage plays with your ears, I don't see many differences (on the writing level).

@@franjes9999 that's true. Writing is difficult no matter what. But we got this

@@KingStar-lu9oi yeah definitely I'm nearly finished with my 2nd screenplay once I'm done I'm thinking on what I might decide to do in regards to another screenplay or a potential play. The type of story I feel that maximises a play though is very different to a screenplay so I'm in two minds about whether to try and get used to writing a play
