This video is about Writing to Describe by using the senses to create vivid descriptions. Also I will discuss Literary Devices and paragraph structures.
Literary devices Alliteration, onomatopoeia, metaphor, simile, and personification. Notes from another video that I don't remember off the top of my head: Alliteration: Stylistic/literacy Successive words that begin with the same sound or letter. Glass Glittery Globe--description makes it unappealing Walked through the thick thorny grass--on purpose to express the difficulty in grass as to speaking. Onomatopoeia: The formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named (e.g. cuckoo, sizzle ). It creates a sound effect that mimics the thing described, making the description more expressive and interesting. The BUZZING bee flew away. The sack fell into the river with a SPALSH. The books fell on the table with a loud THUMP. Rhetorical effect. Metaphor: Figurative speech comparing things WITHOUT like/as Simile: Figurative speech comparing 2 things WITH like/as Personification: Figurative speech When an inanimate object is given human qualities - water slapped - teapot shrieked - wind howled
