*High five, Andrea! We're so alike!* Thank you for making this video. I look forward to hearing more about the process and the story itself! :) Let me tell you about the process with my current project... I'm working on a screenplay which I outlined in May, 2018. The outline is very detailed and contains information on *every scene in the script.* Even if I've had this outline, there has also been room for figuring things out in the process. There are some things I didn't decide in advance, though I described the purpose of each scene. And furthermore, there have also been interesting deviations in the process of writing the script! Whenever I write characters, I continuously read out loud what I have written, and make my best effort to become the characters; to act out the scenes as I'm (re-)writing them. This is a very challenging task, and takes a lot of time and effort. But the results are very rewarding! As I get to know the characters to the best of my ability, I realize that some things will be much better if written differently from the specifications in the outline. The price of that, though, is that it takes some time to complete the script. But like you, I'm also a perfectionist. I've got great ambitions for this script, and look forward to completing it. About 85-90 % through. I hope I can get it done within the year! Since I haven't written for a while, I think I need to re-read the script so that I can get into authentic "writer mode." Haven’t started yet, but looking for inspiration and ideas for a writing project. More than anything, I just need to develop a daily habit so that I can build momentum.
Really happy to see you start on this one! And as for the temptation of editing as you're writing, I feel like it's one of the inconvenient of writing on a computer. You can edit right away, it's right there under your nose so I always find myself editing more than writing in the end. Good luck for all of ti ! :)
hey Andrea! I'm glad to see you post a video on writing sessions! This new project sounds amazing!! But what happened to the previous project "Legend says"? Are you planning on publishing it? Did you consider self-publishing (amazon/ putting it on your website?)? I have to admit that I'm a bit intrigued about the previous project, I wouldn't want to see you give up on it just yet and move on to the next one (I couldn't wait to read it as you can probably tell by now)!
I mentioned here that I'm querying it a bit, but I'm mostly focusing on writing this new project at the moment 😊 Querying takes an insane amount of time, with a lot of waiting in between! haha
I'm working on plot revisions right now and it is very difficult... I have to switch up timelines, add completely new elements and ugh... BUT I only have 9 chapters left 👍
I did write a collection of short stories and started a new project but it seems that I can't really see where I'm going nor that I have any inspiration for the moment... Except for my poetry. Would be happy to read you and find you out there in stores :)
