I normally purchase mid-level knives , but i decided to splurge on this knife after a lot of research. Wow! you do get what you pay for ,this knife has top materials and fit and finish and the scandi grind does everything I want and with steel that has yet needed sharpening after months of use. The only thing i would say is if you have xlarge hands it may not be as comfortable as it is with my medium.
I find that the slightest relief edge on a true scandi will maintain its cutting power while dramatically protecting same edge. Just a few easy passes with a ceramic rod will do. But this edge seems yo be crazy good so far. Keep us updated.
Very nice knife, I like it. A very sharp spine isn't really important to me. I rarely use the spine to strike ferro rods for a variety of reasons. Hope your trip to the TX knife show is going well. Looking forward to seeing video posts from there.
I love the knife but not crazy about the loose sheath. One hand draw would be difficult I believe. But I'm not really a knife guru by any means. So I could be mistaken on that.
I thought this sheath was a prototype sheath but i was wrong... its a fc3.5 sheath, so its a sheath to a totally different knife! The production sheaths will be much better- i would say perfect if i believed in the word as it applies to a product.
Nice review. Scandi---- i buy mora and hultifors ,no way i`m paying big $$$ for a scandi--i only use scandi for fine wood carving and a back up blade,,,i`ve never noticed a difference in performance between mora and some expensive scandi`s friends own. but hey thats just my 2 cents
