This short aircheck features WRKS, 98.7 KISS FM. 98.7 Kiss was one of New York's leading Urban Contemporary stations, from August 1981, until April 2012.
You'll hear Vy Higgensen on this aircheck. in the 1970s, Vy was on air at WWRL & WBLS. She also worked at Ebony & Essence magazines, before launching her own magazine, Unique NY. In 1983, Higginsen co-wrote and co-produced the musical Mama, I Want To Sing! She returned to radio for a short while in the 1990s, when she spent time on 98.7 KISS.
You'll also hear long time Kiss newsman Bob Slade, who had started working at the station in the 1970s, when it was 99X WXLO.
