i've seen a couple of wrongful convictions and i have some idea of how common they are. every, single one of them is a travesty. unfortunately, most go unnoticed and undetected. thank you for your hard work and determination. we are all in your debt!

Yes! There is debt here! We can not continue to let this happen!

Police uses same tactics here in germany. But there is one point that he didn't adress: Police lying to suspects or witnesses during questioning has another devastating effect. Because those that are questioned will often realize that the police was lying. And the implication is, that if the police was lying to you, they can't be trusted. How can you trust a bunch of liars to protect you? How much respect will you have for a person who you know is lying as part of their job, on a daily basis? That is part of the reason why there are more and more attacks on the police, verbal or physical. And those attacks on the other hand lead to more hostile police officers. If we want to have an effective and fair police and therefore a safe environment, we need to ban police from lying alltogether. That may in some cases make their work more difficult. But lying all the time makes their job impossible on the long term. And "more difficult" is still much better than "impossible". And i think 50% wrongly convicted people is a strong evidence that the police work is already impossible. At a rate of 50%, you could just scrap all the judges and witness and trials. Just put a chimpansee in a room, show him pictures of each suspect and then put the one in jail the chimp is pointing at. The success rate would be around the same.

Another reason i wouldn`t want to be a cop, how a policemen could willingly put someone in jail who shouldn`t be there and ruin their life just so they can advance their career. What`s worse is that the policemen probably think they are doing the right thing.

Because they try and push the propaganda on TV (Law & Order, CSI, etc) where they are heroes who break the rules to put the “bad people “ away and those dastardly defense attorneys who fight for the rights of people are the “bad “ crime. They have drank their own kool aid. Who cares if they take advantage of mentally ill/people with disabilities . Then even when the cops and prosecutors have evidence that the person is innocent they double down because “winning “ is more important than justice.

and this is why it is NEEDED to be made into LAW that if a person KNOWS he is innocent and is arrested or charced, ANY and ALL resistance inclusing mass murder of cops should always be self defense

I was wondering why people dont ask for a lawyer and speak to police. By doing so they usually screw themselves whether innocent or not. By saying nothing but I want a lawyer the cops can't twist their words. Why aren't people told to say nothing.

Recommendations: Record all police interviews (I think that's done in Australia and Britain.) Limit the length of the interrogation. Restrict police from lying during interviews. Admit expert testimony at trials.

You should investigate poor Brendan Dassey who was told what to say by the police to a murder that his uncle Steven was framed ,so they did not have to pay Steven $35,000,000 for another wrongful conviction that he served 18 years in jail ,the police lied at his first trial and they had to frame him of the murder so they did not have to pay .

So, is the argument that if there were less false confessions, the murder rate would go down? Regardless of who confesses, someone was still murdered!
