This crossing is located on the Pan Am Railways (CSX) Rumford Branch.
Horn setting: Horn zone.
WRRS rotatable cantilever on the left: 4 pairs of WRRS 8" incandescent lights.
WRRS rotatable cantilever on the right: 5 pairs of WRRS 8" incandescent lights and a WRRS mini bell.
After chasing Pan Am Railways' PORU along the Rumford Branch most of the way, I decided to end the chase in Livermore Falls as it was getting late. This would be the place where I was looking forward to filming though from that chase. When I arrived, I set up my main camera at this crossing, while my grandpa filmed with his phone at the nearby Main Street crossing. After a little bit of a wait, I heard the rumble and the roar of the EMD Turbo 645 prime movers in the distance, as well as the familiar fouled RS3L. Soon after, the crossing activated, and PORU came climbing through with its trio of Guilford painted GP40s for power, which is pretty much impossible to see nowadays. MEC 353, the second GP40 in the consist is now retired and has been sent off to Huntingdon, WV for scrapping, while MEC 319 is currently sitting in the Waterville Yard awaiting its fate.
This crossing is a great one, and it's certainly one of the best I've recorded during my August 2022 trip. It is a classic WRRS cantilever install from the 1960s or early 1970s installed by the Maine Central, which still appears to feature all of its original WRRS 8" lights. The most notable thing about the crossing is the bell, which is a WRRS Mini Bell mounted above the overhead lights! At the beginning of the video, it is hard to hear the bell due to the loud turbo 645 prime movers from the GP40s drowning out the sound, though it is much more audible from about 2:15 onwards. Overall, what a great crossing to have had the chance to record. This is also my last crossing video from that trip to be posted on this channel, so it's a great way to end it.
