Slight correction. Since 2006, the 6 speed has a 41:59 torque split ratio. It also have a torsen center diff along with DCCD. So it's never truly an open diff.

@Matthew I was wrong, it's actually another mechanical clutch and not a torsen that accopanies the DCCD from 2006 all the way to 2017. They removed it in 2018.

My rear end always kicks out when i let out the clutch to get moving on auto and auto-... Auto+ and manual full lock corrects the issue.

I know this is 6 years ago... but I'm prettttty sure the torsen only came in 07 -> I know this because I swapped my 06 wrx to an 07 sti drivetrain.

The 2005 usdm sti is the first to go 41:59 before it was 45:55. They also use a clutch type rear lsd clutch type center lsd and helical front lsd. They didn’t use torsen(another name brand for helical) until after 2005.

auto keeps it straight :) seems like you just keep it in auto

Diff lock doesnt make the power split 50/50 front and rear. The ratio stays exactly the same.

I tried it on my 03 wrx with a 6 speed and honestly didn't really norice much of a difference, the only difference i noticed was on sharp turns the car kept binding.

dont EVER lock your diffs on dry pavement. thats how you grenade your diffs. Ofcourse it'll bind because wheels rotate at different rates while turning. Locking the center diff prevents that from happening.
