Slight correction. Since 2006, the 6 speed has a 41:59 torque split ratio. It also have a torsen center diff along with DCCD. So it's never truly an open diff.
@Matthew I was wrong, it's actually another mechanical clutch and not a torsen that accopanies the DCCD from 2006 all the way to 2017. They removed it in 2018.
The 2005 usdm sti is the first to go 41:59 before it was 45:55. They also use a clutch type rear lsd clutch type center lsd and helical front lsd. They didn’t use torsen(another name brand for helical) until after 2005.
I tried it on my 03 wrx with a 6 speed and honestly didn't really norice much of a difference, the only difference i noticed was on sharp turns the car kept binding.
dont EVER lock your diffs on dry pavement. thats how you grenade your diffs. Ofcourse it'll bind because wheels rotate at different rates while turning. Locking the center diff prevents that from happening.
