Dervish in Progress at Impulstanz Festival 2024
We recently had the pleasure of leading the Dervish in Progress (DIP) workshops at the Impulstanz Festival 2024, with around 90 participants from over 20 different countries. It was incredible to see people from India, Iran, Turkey, Syria, Israel, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Hungary, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Latvia, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Greece, Bulgaria, Belgium, and the UK all coming together to share this unique experience.
In a DIP session, we enter through our own invisible portal into a personal spacetime where we create a ritual for ourselves through DIP whirling. This practice allows us to connect with our deeper selves and understand deeper realities. As we whirl, our bodies generate more energy, leading to heightened mental and emotional awareness. This state-what I call “beyond the horizon”-helps us discover new insights and solutions to life’s challenges.
Regular practice of DIP whirling-without judgment or expectation-opens the door to ongoing personal growth and self-awareness.
I also want to extend a very special thank you to my assistant, Jacqueline Frick, for her amazing and smooth assistance. Her support was a big help, easing everything so I could focus on giving and sharing more from my personal experiences as a whirler, performer, and instructor.
Finally, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made these workshops possible, especially the participants and the Impulstanz team. Your diverse energy and enthusiasm were truly inspiring.
I’m deeply grateful for this experience and am convinced of the positive impact DIP has through its events. I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you.
