We modified a decorative sign, replacing the bright white LEDs with a string of WS2813B LEDs! (Neopixel Library Compatible) These feature 24-Bit Color, 2kHz PWM frequency, and result in beautiful flicker-free colors both to the human eye and a camera!
Let’s walk through how we converted a simple acrylic sign from a bright eye-sore into a piece of digital art. Let’s walk through the steps we took to build and test this project!

Very good build. Thanks! Not the cheapest build I would assume. Those Neopixels are pricey and ordering a PCB for just one unit build is $40 or so including shipping? But at the end, you have a professional product.

Hi Bert! It's certainly a lot more expensive than the old design! (bare LEDS + resistors) Looking at QTY ~1, BOM cost comes out to about $8.45 (not including the PCB) I suppose if you would factor in assembly time, odds & ends, price of the sign... perhaps $40 all-told?

@@Millionaires.Empire this fella is way too much. he is very big feeling and puts much too much stock in the expensive piece of paper he took in school. he knocks makers but he just done a project makers were doing over a decade ago. I had high hopes for this channel too when I seen the name. being a software engineer and self taught higher than novice but not anywhere close to an expert electronics guy along with common sense. this guy done extremely well in school I suspect but he has no personal portfolio when it comes to the real world. I'm not saying this to be a troll because elitism in the yt ee community is never good but this guy needs to learn how to condense his content by fucking off with his opinions and just have fun. he's got pretty shitty gear for a REAL engineer. he should be going to pcbway and building his boards for free to do more projects
