The automatic HRD logging from WSJT-X used to work, but no longer works. All my configuration selections in both HRD and WSJT-X match the video's selections, except the database name is my call letters. The HRD logging works if I manually add a logged event, but not automatic logging from WSJT-X.
We can always get someone to help you with that. I've made about 4,000 QSOs this year using WSJT-X... and I couldn't live without the automatic logging.
I have tried and tried, purchased HRD, it never integrates with other software. All the other software works, HRD doesn't do anything easily but install well. All the HRD videos really aren't that helpful. Make one showing how HRD is the center of a digital station and how it connects to other software supporting hardware (SDRPlay, Win4x, WSJTX, other loggers and other digital packages) you'd sell a lot more with it.
Though it's mentioned in the video and our online manual, I'd like to make clear - this change was not made to replicate and replace the features of JTAlert. If you like the features of JTAlert, please continue to use it with the previous integration. It works great and we'll continue to support it. This change was made to enable folks to log directly into Ham Radio Logbook from WSJT-X when they didn't need the features of JTAlert. This same integration enables N1MM to log directly into Logbook.
Not really very useful for a total newbie. Just shows how he makes QSO's without explaining anything. What's this "standard messages" and HRD? I need to go find other videos that explain how WSJT-X works.
Hi Mike, Do you know if HRD has a FT-891 version that works through the USB - Mini USB on the center back of the FT891? Yaesu published a C A T low level control language book for that rig. But cannot tell me if a third party user interface writer is using that approach. I am looking for a Win 10 laptop compiled language that uses their C A T interface for portable work using the 891.
Thank you Mike, How can you share the "Rig Control" between HRD and WSJT? I noticed you have Frequency readout on both applications. Here, I'm using Rig control with WSJT and then only starting the Logbook ... 73 de Rene VA2QR / VE2ESU
Is it possible to have WSJT-X interface with more than one logging program (e.g., HRD Logbook AND N3FJP ACL and/or N1MM)? If so, how do I add them into the UDP area? I WAS able to get my HRD Log to interface with my WSJT-X using the method you described, though. Thank you for that! W1DGL
Never could get this to work for me. I tried server times over a week, stopped and restarted your video many time making sure I was doing it right. I am using the newest version of HRD & Win10. Everything has been worked fine with HRD and Win10 for years and I’m a subscriber too. In the end I went back to jtalert and that works very well to transfer to HRD logbook. So I guess I’m doing something wrong 73 wd4dda
In my FT 897D WSJT is not picking up many stations as JTDX do. I don't know if its because a wrong setup that I did. By the way, congrats for your video. 73 de PY1FX - Marcos.
That's good to know. Someone asked about FT8Call yesterday and indicated that "it doesn't work with FT8Call". I thought that strange, but it's good to know what we're good!
Everything works fine with WSJT-X and HRD but if I use WSJT-X JTAlertX it records the record in my log book twice, once with the QSO name filled in and one without the information filled in and they have a different time on them. Any ideas?
Please select one method of integration. If you need the features of JTAlert, please use the pre-existing method. If you don't need the features of JTAlert, please use this new method. If you use both, you'll get duplicates in your log.
I suppose it's possible. I'm not convinced I know what the benefit would be. What's important in the long-run is that we remain fully compatible with changes made in WSJT-X and JTAlert.
Thanks Mike, this video was extremely helpful. In addition, I need to thank Kevin for his patience and support. He is a valuable person in your network in my opinion, humble or not. Today, I experimented with changing the Rig Control features to my preferences. I set up a Favorite Freq and deleted and added a couple Band selections. I am slowly becoming adaptive to HRD. It is a program with challenges to Master.
Problem with FT8: Fldigi and other communications apps run fine, but WSJT-x refuses to work. The program runs and audio is getting to the computer-it feeds out through the speakers. But WSJT-x can’t hear it. I’m on Windows 10 Home, latest version on a Dell i7 desktop. WSJT-x 1.9...Any suggestions? De KG5AR
@@HamRadioDeluxe but will it work without the rig control connected? When I use rig control on HRD and have Ft8 running as well my computer freezes or get really slow. That why I am asking if it will still log the calls if the rig control isn't connected
Sure, it will work without Rig Control connected. But this should not be slow. Running it without Rig Control works fine... but I'm not certain that you'll get proper frequency/band, and mode saved into your QSOs.
Mike, I’m still using version 873 and although I’m also using JT Alert, it works exactly as you have it in the latest version. Could you explain what has changed in regards to WSJT?
Sure, Jim! Some folks wanted to be able to do this without JTAlert. So before this change, JTAlert was needed. With this change, you have the option of using the existing JTAlert integration (which we will always support) or the direct integration from WSJT-X without JTAlert (which we just added). The video obviously shows the latter... I'm not using JTAlert in this video.
Thanks! I like this with one issue - one thing that JT Alert does for me is let me know of contacts I've worked before. I don't see a way that happens here, is that right? I think that functionality is in DM780 and would be one thing that I'd like to see here. Thanks!
VK2BYI has written a paper that I'll be publishing on our website that details how to use JTAlert with this new integration. If you're happy with the old integration (logging from JTAlert), you can certainly continue using that. We'll continue to support it. But we'll probably get to the point where we're able to add similar "JTAlert functionality" in Ham Radio Deluxe.
Thanks - I'd be interested in that! I was hoping to simplify my setup and just use HRD with WSJT-X but the "worked before" seems pretty critical in the FT8 world.
