Kind of.. The promoter (Eurosport Events) is part of the Broadcaster (Eurosport). The championship was 'bought' by Eurosport because they know they can re-sell the broadcast rights and advertising. Many of the tickets are free through prize draws made by the championship and the sponsors (DHL, Oscaro). It's a bit like Blancpain GT, SuperGT and DTM; all series organised by the promoters for the teams/manufacturers and sponsors; not for ticket sales. As a business model, it keps the series free from too much outside interference; and not as prone to outside interference from 'fans' and 'the public' as we see in NASCAR and F1; where they are constantly trying to please the TV audience and always fail. While SuperGT is massively popular in Japan; it's still a series organised by itself for its participants; not made for the TV audience or ticket sales. As long as racing people are interested in racing, these series will survive as they don't rely on the wider general population to be casually interested, which is what F1 and NASCAR are trying to capture.
@@OsellaSquadraCorse cheers for the detailed explanation... I genuinely never thought to look at it that way... I am guessing the promotors/holding companies are not floated so they're happy just turning a decent profit every year rather than having to get forever bigger to appease shareholders. Glad to know there is still plenty of pure racing out there.
HUFFY!!! P7 in Volkswagen! masterclass drive so happy to see great drivers in Volkswagen and that the cars and drivers can stand sooooo tough fights!!! (Y) (Y) (Y) one lap of this race and more happened than in the whole F1 Baku GP XD ha.
@@fakulm1436 I like touring car sports mostly of Motorsports (also like GT, Formula 3 and 4 for example). I also watch other TCR series (TCR Germany, TCR Europe). Races in the TCR International and WTCC always were exciting too. the cars are not expensive and depending on aerodynamics like DTM, GT and Formula sports so I guess contacts are kind of wanted here
