The Astute Mark1 looks very cool. In my Mk1, i have vintage elektroniks, too. Tamiya 1200Ma/h batterie pack, CPR 100 and the Technigold. I Use a steel pinion, because i drive it from time to time.
the terminal on that striker.... brings me back to the bent terminal leads on my hornet... never forget upgrading with a trinity monster motor i paid $75 for in 1985! launched it thru a parking lot into a curb and bent the shit out of the terminal and broke the front suspension. got a custom crp front shock tower and did the "project grasshopper" from radio control car action mag and still have all the parts except the motor and the parma stinger body which was stolen along with my team losi jrxt and team associated t1 which were super fast! i really would like to find that parma stinger body again...
Nice video, I just realized how many cars you have, but we have barely seen because they were purchased already built. Don't get me wrong, your toys your rules. But for content sake, it is better when you build it because you learn about it and get to tell us what you experienced. To me personally, it is 80% about the build, 10% about looking at it on the shelve, 9% knowing it works and I can use it, 1% actually going out and using the thing because I always find an excuse.
I've never been sure that flyer with the super shot was actually gold🤷♂️ I think it was silver with distorted camera lighting which made it look gold (I've actually painted mine gold because it does look better IMO)
Had to rewatch & drool a little more . Recieved 2 mid's releases & Tamiya C11 over the weekend . Now I just need the 4 unicorns & my 88 car collection will be done - HA HA 959 , Monster Racer , Hotshot 2 & Striker . Almost won them all in the online auction you did video on months ago. I'm sure I'll pull trigger on a few more re-re's
i almost forgot about my falcon. that was also taken with my other cars. thing was, i let some newb drive it and the guy literally drove it into a sewer full throttle. I had to fish it out from the bottom under the grate. the front suspension was cracked and i couldn't find a replacement. the whole thing was taken except for 1 front and 1 rear shock, the back motor cage protector and the body which is still painted and in great shape!
Hi Gav. Great videos, keep up the good work. What a collection! The Optima Mid in Canon F1 livery, do you remember what paint codes you used? Are they Tamiya? I'm looking to paint my latest build in a similar manner... Thanks!
Love this episode, oodles of facts and history plus when I get guilt pangs about my own modest pool I can always think “Well, at least it’s not as big as Gavin’s collection.”
As more of an onroad guy, I missed the boat of the Top Cat, but I pre-ordered the Cougar. Is Kyosho ever going to build more Tomahawk or is the model practically discoutinued? I want it only because it (and the Scorpion family) has its roots in the Circuit Buggy. The ladder frame, double trailing front suspension, and swing arm rear suspection are so old school and I gotta have it.
