I liked it also. Kind of an early Pirates of the Caribbean thing. My chief critique was that, once they got to the island, they hardly spent any time there. Some undead pirates might have helped too, or at least some actually ancient mystery/superstitious creepy stuff.

My first crush was the pink ranger. Then, it was Geena in The Long Kiss Goodnight. She was so impressive in that movie and it still holds up. Even Sam Jackson said it was the most underrated project he ever worked on.

I own a DVD copy. Saw it in the theater originally, and consider it to be one of the best action-adventure films of all time. Had it not been for every moment of film from the scene where she is talking to the President on the phone in her car, until the credits rolled, it might have been the best.

Finally I just don't happen to care for a great deal of her films. It's not a reflection on her or her acting skills. Many actors and actresses do many films that have a certain look and feel to them. I just don't happen to care for hers.

Gina Davis in A league of their own was literally the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. Her angles her face her raw beauty was intoxicating. I think she aged a little oddly- still pretty but her face chsnged. Look at Alyssa Milano- she looked the same most of her life- that equals work in Hollywood. Gina was and is legendary -

@@davidl570 yes! It’s like her whole face changed. Some people should age w minimal surgery. It just looks better. Nicole Kidman’s jaw is one example. She should have just done a little filler. I ran into her at a pizza shop in Hollywood a year ago. She brushed past me and touched me before I realized it was her. I had just seen The Long Kiss Goodnight for the first time and loved it. Beetlejuice has always been my absolute #1 favorite. I've seen it about 60 times since childhood.

My only hope is covid will lower budgets and change theaters enough that smaller more original movies will be made. Sequels etc can be great and remakes done far enough in past can work but i just cant believe the number of good original movies studios have bought scriprs for but will never make because"only remakes and sequels of established things make money"-maybe covid will be a reset of that.... maybe

Actually they didn't have similar careers, at all. Gina let her career go stagnant after 1996 for reasons only known to herself, she was getting offered plenty of roles. But she was turning them all down, instead she was doing a supporting voice over role for the Stuart Little films and some TV role. Sigourney Weaver didn't stop taking work, she kept doing lots and lots of work. But her career took a dive because the roles she was taking were all rubbish, like many male actors, she was picking the wrong roles and eventually ended up in the "direct to DVD" realms.

"Hero" is one of my favorite movies. It's so underrated. It's a hilarious social satire that has a few poignant moments. I really loved that movie. And "Cutthroat Island" is a hugely underrated movie as well. I thought it was very good. Like "Howard the Duck" most of the people that don't like it never saw it.

"Star is rising in a different place" in a different galaxy far far away apparently. Actresses in Hollyweid have a very short use/BB by date. Once they hit the wall very few make it past that. Helen Mirren is a good example of the few that are kept around (54 yrs) and have a long career.

Geena Davis is awesome, The Long Kiss Goodnight is one of my favourite movies and I may be one of the few people who really like Cutthroat Island. I agree it is at least better than most of the Pirates Of The Carribean sequels :-)

25 years ago, a major studio chose to make a Geena Davis pirate movie over a Schwarzenegger action epic - at his 1990s zenith. That's how big Geena Davis was. A Long Kiss Goodnight is an action classic & Davis deserved a Best Actress nom. Also the best Wonder Woman there never was - you get a taste of the *Justice League that never was* with 1994's Speechless - starring Davis, Michael Keaton, & Christopher Reeve.

That's pretty impressive that she ranked #24 in the USA for archery. That's no easy feat. People train their whole lives for that competition. Can you imagine doing that, just picking a sport and training for a couple of years, and then being like the 24th best in the entire country?

I thought Earth Girls are Easy was hilarious and love and most everything else Ms Davis has done. She made a great action star. Oh, and I would love to meet her. How does Neflix NOT have The accidental Tourist even to rent ? True, Ms Davis does not need a comeback. For future video I would like to hear about Rebecca De Mornay. I have always had a crush on her and would like to see her in the future.
