There was open sewage in Greenwood in the 1920s. The type of environment that Clarence Thomas complained about having to grow up in. It was a ghetto that made Compton look lovely. East Cleveland is nicer than Greenwood was. Black people went on to take over all of North Tulsa. It's also much nicer than Greenwood ever was.

I am from tulsa oklahoma and I had no idea about the race Massacre until I was about 26 are so I found out when I was in college in my black studies class. It was never talked about in the tulsa public schools.

I was one of the folks saying "Remember the Tulsa Massacre" 100 year anniversary... I am beaming that it is now in the national discussion that these transgressions have gone unchecked, untaught, and unspoken for so long. Why didn't I have a High School CRT class that taught about this atrocity? Human Rights belong to us all, if we fail to defend all of our brothers and sisters from oppression, then we ourselves become in jeopardy of losing our own freedoms. This applies to skin color, religion, beliefs or lack thereof, gender, etc... The South sure has tried hard to rewrite their history. For example, the Children of the Confederacy had a plaque that was erected in 1959 that said "TO STUDY AND TEACH THE TRUTHS OF HISTORY(ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT OF WHICH IS, THAT THE WAR BETWEEN THE STATES WAS NOT A REBELLION, NOR WAS ITS UNDERLYING CAUSE TO SUSTAIN SLAVERY); This has since been removed. I mentioned this about 10 years ago that this was BS, and a whitewash of history, there in a plaque in an State Capitol... Then all those Confederate Statues, that tried to paint themselves as heroes for fighting to maintain human bondage / property / humans as livestock. I'm also proud that the USA was willing to fight to the death to end slavery and human bondage. However, the 13th Amendment turned many former slaves into disposable workers via prison labor in the dirty South. "unless duly convicted" loophole ensured they law could toss former slaves in the clink for truancy or vagrancy, or loitering, jaywalking, etc. As it turns out, the treatment in prisons was far worse and lethal than as property. Before, the slave owner had a motive for keeping his captors healthy and fed. Now, they were completely expendable and were basically worked to death and replaced. We also need to rewrite the "Backdoor slavery loophole" in the 13 Amendment; The "unless duly convicted" clause needs to be removed. The state should not be able to enslave you, regardless if you have been (wrongfully) convicted or not... Some would use the power of the state to enslave folks just because of the color of their skin, and the enticement of "cheap prison labor". Also, how does prison labor compete with paid labor workforces, driving down labor costs for the industrialists... Damn, labor means a lot, notice the mass immigration, the Red team wants that, but claims they don't. That's called get your cake and eat it too with their base... Kinda' genius if you ask me...
