WOW!! I've seen videos of them with Tommy E. This is a jewel. Excellent show, excellent interview, excellent artists, excellent camera work. Thank you ":)". What???... Nobody else has made comments!!
It just ocurred to me that you can hear the development of of the early acoustic guitar duos.listening to this ;.Eddie Lang /Lonnie Johnson;...Carl Kress/Tony Mottola (early) including all the specially composed pieces for guitar acoustic(pre electric) with Ivor Mairants in England etc.I LOVE this session!!! Important to have good rhythm guitar, nice unexpected touches of harmony, and absolute synchronicity with the soloist, movement in the chords etc.
Frank and Vinny are great musicians and have managed to create a niche for themselves by being "commercial" ,playing "arrangements" whilst covering a wide range of music and styles. They even do Shadows dance steps! They will appeal to non musicians, non guitarists, whilst maintaining a high standard of musicianship. I used 2 guitars,in a commercial setting with no bass.(plus vocals) for many years.and was asked to play with thse guys in Tel Aviv, around the time of this recording or shortly afterwards.(I was actually busking at the time!
Can't really believe someone asked, but I guess even the classics can fade if music is not taught in our schools!!!! The problem in America for which that is just a symptom. BUT I digress. If you'd actually like to become acquainted with it, check out Nat King Cole. Very much a classic rendition. Greg Greg Guiitars LLC
