I have to agree with you. The first indication was the "scholarese" of the explanatory text at the begining; next, an introduction that takes approximately 6 minutes (basic rule of thumb: the longer the intro, the more esoteric and obscure the presentation, either that or the person doing the intro is an attention seeking windbag)). If the main speaker has to be extensively explained, there is a good chance they will be boring. Skimming through the rest of the video substantiated this; perhaps sinologists will enjoy this, but for the layman, who wonders, "What does temporalities mean?" Just say, "Of ite time", do not resort to language that you think makes you sound like the smartest person in the room.
