AND since Wu Tang is not for everybody, it makes it even MORE impressive that they are so popular. they made it big WITHOUT conforming to popular entertainment.
@@TopsideCrisis346 yea, they not mainstream tho, their topics are not for the regular man, it more of an esoteric taste, yet they STILL made it mainstream with compromising their style.
@@soramirez5473 Wu Tang was the very definition of mainstream in hip hop for years. Some of their members fathered styles that are more underground, but Wu Tang was composed of members like Method Man, one of the most mainstream rappers ever who flowed with both Big and Pac.
@@JPZaGod inspectah deck is mainstream? U god? Masta killa? Gza?.. ONLY mef ONE rapper is mainstream.. killarmy, sunz of man. Wu syndicate.. all mainstream?!?!?…
What got me hooked on Wu...I grew up watching Kung Fu Theater in the 1970s and 1980s, Hellswind Staff, Ghostface Killer, Wu Tang vs. Shaolin all movies I watched as a kid.
This was during the Golden Age of Hip Hop music. I was like 16 years old rockin this on my walkman..or stereo in my room. I remember back then you turned on the radio..it was Wu Tang on one station..Tribe Called Quest the next station..Nas on another..thats what hip hop is and always will be. The creativity was at its peak in the early 90s..shout out to Wu for contributing to that 💯💯
Its a joy to watch the new generation get an appreciation for the Wu. I'm from the UK and can confirm we love these guys all across Europe. The Golden Age (92-97) was one of the best bodies of work in music.
Deck sets the tone. His album was lost in the flood of Rzas apartment, so Deck was never heard , it would've been interesting if his original album had been saved and released. 🔥
This first album was definitely classic raw Wu Tang, there was nothing like it when it came out. They got better and better with the rhymes and beats as time went on too… The Purple Tape is an absolute classic🙌🙌
Thing is, all of these guys are super smart too, GZA is basically a chess grand master. He's really knowledgeable about science, astronomy and numerous other things. And it really shows in their lyrics. You really have to process what they're saying and decipher it, hence why wutang clan isn't for everyone. Most of their lyrics go over peoples heads. It's only once you really understand what they're saying does it really blow your fucking mind and make you realize how ridiculous every single one of them are. It pisses me off how slept on they are and how no one ever mentions them in "best lyricists lists". Each one of them are in my top 20.
I found wu tang clan when I was 11 in Scotland believe it or not, been listening to them since every one of them is super unique with the dirty beats in the back. Can’t beat it loved this comment^^^^
@sumitrana4813 look at Amy top 10 lyricist list or video etc. Not a single member ever makes any of those lists. That's what I mean by slept on. It's easy to disregard them as a group. They're never given their fair consideration individually
The 1st time I heard this song in 93 I knew it was special! 30yrs later it’s still special! WuTang Forever 🔥 4th Chamber Gza! Wu tang is different. Mystery of Chessboxin is one of their most popular songs because its DIFFERENT than other forms of rap. When it came out, ppl were blown away by the style. Wu tang aint for everyone. their bars are heavy and dense and they are NOT AFRAID TO BE THEMSELVES.
This is one of the best reactions to this song on RU-vid. When ghost blows up after odb is the absolute best. I loved you guys flipping out right then. Not long I’d how long that this rhyme took me If rap was a gun you wouldn’t bust back Then rza follows up and kills it with the flowin like Christ when I speaks the gospel. Definitely 10/10
Glad ya’ll took the hint…but you got a loooong way to go. They dropped classics as a crew and then they dropped 🔥solo projects. The B side to this single was METHOD MAN…(they gave Meth the solo shine) and was the next banger from them. That should be the next reaction. Others clan jawns would be C.R.E.A.M., CAN IT BE ALL SO SIMPLE, TRIUMPH, IT’S YOURZ…then start diving into the solo albums.
The best way to think of the Wu-Tang is as a supergroup - multiple talented artists coming together to create something that is far beyond the sum of its parts. Each of these dudes can, and do, stand on their own. But together, they elevate one another to a whole new level. 💥✊💥 #wutangforever
This shit came out when I was 15, niggaz was punchin niggaz in the face to this shit. WU-TANG aint just a Hip-Hop group, its a religion........Dont know how good yall are, but yall understood WU, nuff said, keep shine'n young Kings. SUBSCRIBED
I was in college when Protect Ya Neck dropped... Ni66a... this EP was a warning shot fired across the bow. Then 36 Chambers came out and blew sh*t up out the water man. Great time to be alive.
Can't judge ODB in reference to other rappers, his biggest influences were soul and shit, that's why he has a crazy delivery and cadence. Why his videos like shimmy shimmy ya had 70s themes.
Salute!!!...bought the cassete single in 93 at tower records with method man on the flipside. Had never heard it before and was blown away when I popped it in the maxima car deck..yall got to do that method man on the flipside..Salute to the young bulls studying the history of what we (black folk) created ✌🏿
I've seen a few of your reactions now and I can say you're one of the best to watch. Also, dude on the left in the red: has anyone said your facial expressions remind me of Kenan Thompson, and I mean that as a major compliment, you're fun to watch. Wu-Tang is so ill, Clan In The Front should be next.
High school days lol..... walking thru my high school hallways reciting " and i'm the dirtiest thing in sight.... matter fact bring out the girls and lets have a MUD FIGHT!! " (Kung fu sounds) lmaoooo
Man you guys would be busy for a Whole year if y'all were to go down the Wu-tang rabbit hole. It's 10 members in the group, 7 Wu-tang Albums & 8 of the members got multiple Solo Albums featuring the other members of the Group. That's Why it's a very strong case & hard to argue with someone Who Says That Wu-tang is the greatest rap group of All time. That Took over Hip-hop & kept New York in the Rap game during the era of Gangsta Rap.
One of the greatest rap song s of all time, their flow and lyrical skills were top notch, the beat was sick, most of em was from Staten Island NYC, Old Dirty Bastard was from Brooklyn NYC, they were ahead of their times, do a reaction on EPMD song , you got's to chill, keep up the good work, keep the videos coming, PEACE 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷👍
When they came out their cadence was so unique. They were like what Nirvana did in rock music. All the other rappers were like “shzt… it’s over for us.” Wu Tang upped the game.
Love the reaction! ODB a legend for sure. Have yall ever thought about getting any lighting facing yall btw? I don't know how bad the glare off of the canvas backdrop would be but it would light ya up
