My dad, who’s never heard of Wubby but is a huge movie buff, fucking HATED Poor Things. Thought it was creepy and predatory. I started to watch it and tapped out because the premise is just fucked. You’re allowed to like it but I’m allowed to think you’re a fucking freak.

The point of the movie is a critique of the predatory nature of the male characters, and the female protagonist's entire arch is overcoming and taking control of her own sexuality and well-being as a fully developed human. That's how I see it at least, I suggest watching with that frame of mind.

i wouldn't necessarily consider myself a 'normal moviegoer' at all, and i still think poor things was one of the worst films i've ever seen. when wubby said 'it was like yms and i were watching different films' i definitely felt that; but i almost always feel that way when i watch a yms review tbh. eta the most infuriating part of the experience though was being told any time i voice that opinion that either i 'didn't understand it' or that i must be a pearl clutcher or something.
