Story of my life 😂 OLight are really good lights too. I have had the OLight brands longer, so I know they hold up… not that I think this one won’t, but time will tell.
The revolutions in portable lightning is mind-lowing. I still remember old carbon-zinc 3R12 batteries and those flat flashlights powered by them (it may be Europe-specific item). Now a fairly basic flashlight has more functions that a handheld phone had 25 years ago.3R12 "Why do people use red lights at night? Low-light conditions cause our pupils to dilate. Exposure to bright light causes them to constrict. That means that using an intense light at night can temporarily make it harder to see in the dark once the light turns off. Conversely, red light minimizes pupil dilation, thus preserving night vision."
I know.. I honestly never even knew they had lights like any of the ones I’ve got recently. I had always just bought ones that fit my tool batteries and whatever was available at the store. LED has made brightness and battery life be amazing too.
If I didn't let you already talk me into the Arcflex and the Oclip I would probably get this. I actually keep the Arcflex in my bag. The Oclip for now just sits on my desk. This is a pretty nice light.
Those are both great lights too. I’ve been running the Arkflex as my main carry also. It is a little longer and heavier on the hat than this one… but still works.
I got a Prime brand slim pocket light for 20 bucks at oreilly. I have been pleasantly surprised by the features on it. Does about 85 percent of these olight and wuben gadgets.
👍… I actually go in O’Reily pretty often. Will have to look for it. Lights have come a long way in the last several years. I remember when an old pen style steam light used to be the best thing ever. I found one in my drawer the other day and it was now kinda useless 😂 Thanks for the suggestion 👍
The red is useful when camping to not ruin your night vision. When you just need a bit of light to look for something in a backpack or to go for a pee in the middle of the night. Then when you turn off the red, you're not blind again.
Red light is less distracting and doesn't bring attention to you. A lot of people who work in dark concerts use them. It can be used so you don't blow your own eyes out if it's too bright. Also it has higher contrast so you might be able to see differences in the land or room you're in.
That’s what I’ve been telling people. I had some Olights going on a few years now and they still work great. We will have to see on this one, but it looks pretty durable
Their other lights look nice, but compact and versatile are always the lights I’m looking for. I only use mine for work, typically indoors, and usually for directly in front of me. High Lumens isn’t as important for me as being able to have my hands free while using them. I think it’s a pretty nice light.
Link me if one is done already but could you give a room tour ? I know you spent good money on your setup but I also know you shop for deals and creative hacks maybe you can inspire me I have a blank shed currently and looking for ideas when building my tools and storage.
I haven’t done one of my shop yet, only my truck so far. I may do it this year at some point… but I don’t work in it as much as I used to.. it’s more just storage now
@@MORGANSMaintenance starting my 1st year as a electrician apprenticeship I’m sure mine will be mostly used for that as well and I’ve been trying to commit to a brand, tough built with their 1 lock switch system is looking promising but fairly new and not all the attachments launched yet and hate committing to future promises.
@@L00TxGoblin yeah, it is the first system that has made me even question Packout. Other than that, the way Packout goes together with one spot to unlock/lock is better than the rest in my opinion. But I only have had Dewalt and Milwaukee.
Red light is for maintaining night vision, if you are working in a dark environment where you dont want your night vision or others messed ip. Examples would be on a ship where you are dark/on watch, or if you are out enjoying a dark spot in nature and dont want to go night blind.
I would have liked to see both options as well. I normally do have a wireless charger in my truck only because my phone port is iffy with a cable… but it would be nice to have both. 👍👍
@@MORGANSMaintenance Yeah me too, was looking for something I could clip on a picket, backpack strap or cap to keep my hands free. These rotating heads seem perfect, I don’t like you can’t swap batteries but the charging dock was a full stop for me. Just ordered something similar I’ve never heard of after searching alternatives for this. Might not be quite as good but has more features most I probably won’t use.
I've given all my money to O-Light. That being said, it's cool but not cool enough for me to drop 85 bucks on a light that my O-Lights already do for much less.
@@Jesus_Strong yeah I was curious the size in person.. it’s always hard to tell in pictures. The Arklfex works well as a pocket/headlamp.. but it’s a little long and heavy on the brim of a hat. I think this one is going to work better for that. Both are good lights though
Everyone saying good things about this light what they don't tell you is how hot this can get at 150 lumens extremely hot unbearable. I burnt my finger with this crap on 700 lumens better pray you don't set your house on fire.
@@BOSS-SMG I wear mine on my hat, but I haven’t noticed mine getting any hotter than my Olights. My job, I only use in spurts and I never use the highest settings “turbo” on any of my lights. My Olights get pretty hot on that setting too. Appreciate the heads up, good thing to get as much feedback in the comments as possible 👍
