Just prior to the end of WWII, the German military secretly undertook a massive push to design miracle weapons such as colossal tanks and the world's first guided missiles and long-range bombers that could attack New York. The technology advanced generations in little more than a decade and the machines were on a grander scale than reached even today. Now, nearly 60 years later, a team of experts examine the original blueprints to determine if these so-called Wunderwaffen, or "wonder weapons," could have changed the outcome of the war.

Great video, really well done, however, the sound mixer really made a mess of things. It's very difficult to understand what the announcer is saying because you have the music and the background noise of the video all competing. You need to turn down the first two, so we can understand what the announcer is saying. Without extreme effort.

Okay, you guys all know these aren't bespoke documentaries created by this channel, right? They're reposts of existing documentaries. They're obviously going to be really jank in terms of editing, and who knows if they even have the rights to upload them so they probably mess with them to avoid detection by copyright strike bots. There is a very big gulf between "inventing" and actually seeing the thing built and even further in seeing it operational. Like the Japanese Ohka, the Fritz-X needed an aircraft to carry it (against a fleet well equipped with radar) and get close enough to launch it...combat air patrol might have something to say about that. Still, the Fritz-X did score some notable hits. The major problem was it required a twin-engined (or larger) bomber to carry it and all the candidate aircraft were, by that stage of the war, basically flying one-way missions.

The Tallboy bombs dropped on the gun bunkers were 6 ton bombs, dropped by 617 squadron of the RAF, the famous Dam Busters squadron. The bombs were designed by Barnes Wallis, who also designed the bouncing bombs used successfully against the dams. Tallboys were to sink the German battleship Tirpitz in a Norwegian fjord. Wallis also designed an even bigger 10 to Grand Slam bomb. These large bombs were used against the V-3 gun bunkers and other underground bunks.

The dramatics in this and many other documentaries are almost laughable. The “experiment” segments are almost entirely predictable. 1. 2 replicas built. Check. 2. Homemade weapon launch platform. Check. 3. Recycled crappy dialog from other documentaries like this. Check. 4. All is well until miraculously goes wrong just before the target and has to turn back on the first run. And so on.

I believe a jet fighter battle almost happened over Germany as the war was going on (about done though) but it was just close as time was up. Seems by May 1945, it could have been days/weeks more, but that was it. Heck USSR had to rap it up and then fight Japan, who was losing to the USA/Allies.
