Fun fact: at 13:15 the piano was actually animated correctly, I'm a pianist and tried it myself on my piano so it's really a great detail nobody noticed.
If you return to the final place by talking with shorekeeper after the event and play the piano, you get an achievement called "I've already met my Mona Lisa"
I just want to say Female Rover's VA is really improving which is great to see. I just hope they go back eventually and redo 1.0 voice lines for her at least
God, i hope so, i am someone who enjoys EN VA because i can listen to it while doing something else. But by god this is the first where i actually change the VA to JP because how bad some lines are.
It's really good that she's improving, I wasn't playing in English, but watching this video now, I really noticed a difference, I hope people stop criticizing her so negatively.
Honestly I thought Jinshi had the hardest crush on Rover but her connection with the Shorekeeper is just on another level. I think those two are destined to spend eternity together.
@@Mutio86 the length of Rover gone through in the past for the sake of Shorekeeper doesn't sacrifice her computational integrity to the Supercomputer... Bro really love their AI GF
With 1.1 focusing on Jinhsi and 1.3 on Shorekeeper, it's safe to say that this is the direction Wuwa will continue to take in the future: creating a world that revolves around the characters, rather than the other way around... ...which is a very *interesting* way to write the story for an *open-world* game. Outside their setups, both stories share a similar writing structure. I really loved the climax, but I'm not sure if Shorekeeper saying "I have/will always be by your side" seven times counts as effective build-up. Either way, this is certainly a unique way to build a world. It's not my cup of tea, but given the prevalence of isekai OP MC anime, I'm sure many would find this entertaining. Props to the music though. The fact that Black shore's open-world soundtrack echoes the main menu leitmotif is brilliant. It signifies the that "this is the beginning of your journey"
I see your point, but man this shows the flaws of kuro storytelling, or rather should I say world building. In fact, if they choose to write the story on each upcoming character, it simply means their open world has no real story to tell and that only the characters prevail, and if they dont want to change it ,that will be the main reason why wuwa open world, no matter the scenery will always feels empty and flat, because we cannot explain trough the lore why some part of the world exists, who created them, or something like that, which allow me to ask myself: Just why did they even chose to create an openworld in the first place? they could have simply gone the hsr or zzz style and thus save us countless hours of exploration, dont tell me they did that only to have a semblance of comparison to genshin, I wont believe it
To me, even though there are obvious romantic undertones, I find their bond works better if it was platonic, in a more creation-creator, or mentor-mentee nature. Shorekeeper mirrors Rover's past, giving them a glimpse of who they once were before they left the Black Shores. Rover was once the leader of the Black Shores, now Shorekeeper is acting as the leader and explaining to Rover how the facility works. Rover once taught her how to play the piano, now Shorekeeper taught it back to her creator. That parallel connection makes them more interesting. I think that makes their story have deeper layers, IMO. Love can mean anything, anyway. (Also, I was kind of expecting for an explanation or info about that god-like being that sent us to Solaris in the first place. But I guess that's a story for another patch.)
It can definitely work both ways (platonic and romantic). If I were to ship Rover with a character it would definitely be Shorekeeper though. They are really made for each other.
As for the god-like being that sent the Rover to Solaris, I'm not sure if the Rover will ask about her. It's true there was a hollogram of her in that Court of Savantae lab, but I'm not sure if the Rover considers that their priority. The next patch should have Rover asking the questions, so maybe I'm wrong and Rover will ask about that entity.
@@5ilent5layer13 the rover probably wont ever ask about that being cause rover was not even awake during that so rover would have no memory of her. having said that i think we will encounter her at some point in the story
Very beautiful! I like the visuals but the story is confusing for me. I wanted to know more about Rover but I only learnt that they can play the Piano and is possibly millions of years old. It was like watching a date in an underground facility. Shorekeeper saying trust me like every 5 seconds did not help. Nice cutscenes.
There was some discussion in the comments about the relationship of the two - after getting her to 80 in her character info she openly admits like no other character, that she's in love with Rover.
For something that is 1.3 this story was very good with the way things are and if they keep on improving it might just become the best gacha story wise as well since when it comes to gameplay it's already number 1 for many
11:46 for anyone who wondering why Rover can save ShoreKeeper at the end. Look at her Tacet Mark glowing. I think Abby was the one who save us again.
11:32 I swear this scene reminded me so much of Evangelion 2.22 where Shinji tries to save Rei. And the both of them playing piano together reminds me of Shinji and Kaworu in Evangelion 3.33.
Haven't finished the story yet but Shorekeeper didn't die right? And I think the story still hasn't ended yet and has a continuation part 2 right? I love the part of the piano and also the part where Rover changed element to Havoc or Dark Element with Black wings just to slash the dimension space to save Shorekeeper 😭 I'm planning to play it on male Rover now
Not sure if about part 2, but yeah Shorekeeper didn't 'die'. Tethys attempt to absorb Shorekeeper as its core computational unit, and Rover tore Tethys apart to save her.
@@saltissalty3498 Just finished it now. Yes you're right. So after they've held hands to save Shorekeeper and the light from Rovers hand shined, the scene shifts to the piano scenario and then shifts them to the shores scenario and Shorekeeper was already saved by then. Then Rover goes up again at the top hill conservatory building piano areas and meets Shorekeeper unraveling that the Tethys system was fixed due to a special frequency similar to the lament (which is I think it's abby's power when they've held hands at that time inside the Tethys system), and now she is free but still will manage the Tethys system to monitor and fight against the upcoming lament.
Honestly, everything happens too fast; my brain and emotions can't keep up and I think they didn't connect their story plot well always make me feel like missing something, which is also the problem. But the shorekeeper and her last scene with rover is too beautiful, so it's still a 10/10 in my opinion.
I agree, I enjoyed the story, but its gonna be really fast for some people to process. They should have took time with the story and lore and try to connect the dots smoothly. Ngl, FFXIV story set the bar high for me when it comes to lore so that’s why I am a little bit picky on the story delivery, but aside from that!! 1.3 was a huge W and I would give it a 9 out of 10.
@@htet2002linnYeah that’s the main problem too, it’s impossible to please everyone regardless, especially when few people’s expectations are pretty high
I just finished the 1.3 main quest. Dude, while I was playing it, I got the Nier Automata vibes. With the robot and the background soundtrack. I loved it.
It feels illegal for this masterpiece of a game to be played for FREE. To add on to that, the company, Kuro, is literally spoiling its player base with great stuff. My goodness, I can never thank Kuro enough for letting me see and play this DIAMOND of a game.
I loved this story so much, just got so many mixed emotions about shorekeeper because one second i thought she was dying, then she wasn't, then she was, then she wasn't and so on so forth 😭
Seriously while there were many cute scenes with other characters and some flirting Rover‘s interactions with the Shorekeeper give you completely different vibes. There‘s this deep connection and love they share for each other (well they know each other for a „while“ now). This seems like a way more meaningful and serious relationship than with the other characters. Considering their lifespan they are perfect for each other.
I have 2 accounts. One f2p and another dolphin level p2w. Both have different Rover. I am not judging but the Male Rover is way better than the Female one for this story.
Every update we learn new about rover's past frist as frist resonator Second, as the Lord's arbiter And now the shopkeeper old friend, at least the rover age, is 50,000 years that what I found until know
9:10 The Tethys System boss kind of looks like a mix between a Homunculus enemy from Bayonetta 3 and a fairy enemy from Bayonetta Origins
I played all day and almost did 100% of the map, and of course the story. It was great, loved the cutscenes yet they always end so fast. They need to work a little bit better in how to cut them properly or at least made some sort of fade out.
Hehee crying louder my baby why does genshin pressed you so much everyone has their own way for animation When we compare pierrot to ufotable can we see which one is the kid no but some idiot people like you who thinking genshin is for kid grow up i swear wuwa fans is ultimately insane people 😂😂😂
Absolutely beautiful cutscenes that would normally make me emotional, yet feel completely unearned thanks to mediocre writing and the lack of proper buildup.
"mediocre"? im guessing you dont play very many games. and based on the comments you are in the minority on thinking it was mediocre. also it had a good build up lol so idk why you claim it lacks proper build up
@@belugastyle480 it has issues but definitely not the build-up. Pacing is too fast for my taste but not to the point that I don't know what's happening. Keep in mind, the shorekeeper was foreshadowed even prior to release. Her butterfly form was even shown during the pre-release trailer to show that "she's always keeping an eye on the rover."
@@MrBentalton777 What being in the minority and not playing enough games (which is completely off the mark fyi) have to do with story's quality? I'm not looking for an argument, just stating my opinion like everyone else does. If you liked the story I'm glad you did. I'm envious even. But I really didn't think it was anything special.
@@belugastyle480 when people say a games story is mid its due to comparing it with other games as otherwise you cant call a games story mid without having a frame of reference and ww story objectively is better than most games stories created now adays aka objectively not being mid. having said that people also use the term mid as if its a bad thing to be in the middle as middle is the same as average so much rather that than being bad like some other games are.
@@MrBentalton777 It's due to comparing it to other stories in general. If you want comparison to be "fair" (which is bunch of baloney imo but I digress) and compare it to games' stories only then yeah, it's above average for sure - but that's because most of them, just like you said, are nothing to talk about, so it's not any kind of achievement. Even then I would still not give 1.3 story more than 7/10, its most notable quality is beautiful visual presentation. Either way, I see no point arguing about it. If you think story is 9/10 or 10/10 material and I'm just a misguided fool - so be it, I have no interest in defending my pov against random people on the internet. I'm out.
Tbh, I loved the visuals and lore but the entire quest felt so rushed? i know shorekeeper knew us but idk, her voicelines and how she’d “stay with us” felt so repetitive and annoyed me a little.
The start was slow and awkward, and then it just rises rises and rises. Jinhsi arc is better but this one feels more personal for Rover hence it leans more to subjective. 8/10 for me as someone who played fgo, hi3, genshin, hsr, and some pgr.
