The college football world needs to unite and demand that Pitt and WVU play every year. Its stuff like this that makes college football fun. And money (realignment) has ruined it in many ways. The Backyard Brawl being one of the biggest examples.
Completely agree.. Not about money tho, Pitt sells out every home game vs. WVU (and only about 25k on average usually). Pederson, Pitt's AD thinks it'll hurt their program and recruiting. I haven't met a Pitt fan that doesn't want the backyard brawl to begin again, unfortunately it won't happen while he is Pitt's AD.
I never understood the money angle. Does WVU make more money playing Liberty and Towson than they would playing Pitt, Marshall and VA Tech? I doubt it.

littleteethkeith Nothing to gain and everything to lose playing teams like Marshall. No one for WVU wants to play Marshall and playing an out of state teams gives us more exposure in that state which helps with recruiting. And Christopher Clarke Pitt may claim to have 25k fans at a normal home game, but the numbers are clearly exaggerated, they are lucky if they draw 12,000 to one of their games. That's if the away team brings in more fans then Pitt does.

For those of you who are uneducated, WVU and Pitt had one of the most heated rivalries in college football history. No matter what the records were it was always a good game (2007 for example). This video only shows a little bit of how much all WVU fans cannot stand Pitt. I was in that crowd at GameDay. I was also at the last Backyard Brawl ever and when the fans did the chant Mountaineer Field was electric. Let's goooooo Mountaineers!
Yeah 13-9 fuck yall. I guess it makes sense. Just beat Pitt and your in the championship game. We couldn’t win the basketball championship when we had the nba logo (Jerry West) so what do you expect for football.
I find it hilarious that no matter where you go in Morgantown, be it walking down High Street drunk on a Wednesday night, going to a game, or being in any setting where alcohol is involved, an "Eat Shit Pitt" chant will invariably start. We might seem like assholes to people on the outside, but WVU fans just really know how to have fun and not take anything too seriously. Except riots, of course.

Coliseum...something like 1994. Packed..student section sro from floor to ceiling all in unison. PA announcer who played music at breaks knew what would happen...it was as if all rehearsed. All nailed it ..chills thinking back...was epic. Big East ball and moments like that
Make Pitt and WVU play each year with a stipulation in a contract between the two schools that all students from the school that loses have their tuition go up 10% the next year and that money is given as a refund split between all students at the winning team’s school. Make it so the outcome of that game literally has an effect on their education - then the rivalry will truly be unparalleled! (Until more rivalries include that clause, anyway.)

I think WVU should replace Miami or Notre Dame in the ACC. Yes, Notre Dame. Screw Notre Dame. This rivalry with Pitt never should have ended. Speaking as a PITT fan, this rivalry NEVER should have ended. Yes, we're renewing it for 4 years but it's not going to be end of season for an opportunity to screw one's season *cough* 13-9. I always said louisville and Pitt should've came with us to the big 12. Kentucky, wv, western pa/eastern and southern east Ohio market and pipeline but big 12 didn't pull the trigger. at worst replace Pittsburgh with cincy. I cant listen to sweet Caroline the same again. if u are wvu alma, this chant is kind of stuck in your head until death lol.
When the rivalry went on hiatus it was the 13th(ish) oldest college football rivalry. It's a shame the two AD's can't get their act together and get it rolling again. It would probably return to a heated rivalry since the game would probably be early in the season when it's warmer. It sucked the last 20 years since students are almost always out of town during rivalry week.
It's all on the Pitt AD, Oliver Luck has said multiple times that he will play Pitt whenever and where ever they want to play. I think as long as Pitt football is in the gutter they will do everything they can to shy away from playing against WVU, it's sad that everyone up north is afraid of what will happen if they were to line up against WVU.

I'm curious...are WVU fans also Steeler fans? I see a lot of Steeler gear around Morgantown every time I drive through there. It'd be weird to chant "EAT SHIT PITT!" on Saturday, then turn around and scream "HERE WE GO STEELERS!" the very next day. Lol.
I hate not seeing Desmond Howard on the College Gameday Crew. Yes, I am aware that sometimes he's absent for whatever reason. Yet, he is really the only one among the four that would truly know what he's talking about: He has a degree in Journalism from the University of Michigan, was a first team All-American several years while at the University of Michigan, Heisman Trophy Winner, Super Bowl Winner, Super Bowl MVP (there's only three other players who have a Heisman Trophy and A Super Bowl MVP Award), College Football Hall of Fame. (NFL Hall of Fame induction is pending) So, I ask you: Who better to give College Gameday analysis, commentary and insight that Desmond Howard?
