I believe I have an M35 with two decals. One on one side has been worn off almost, with a shield with the German Eagle holding the swastika. On the other side is the shield with the German flag colors. It is still the green color and the leather is still in good shape inside. The chin strap is also there. It is 721 with SE66. This was brought home by a soldier who lived in the area of Abilene, Texas. He was actually a musician in the military. He captured 150 Germans and received the bronze star. After he passed away, I went to his Estate Sale and bought this helmet for $150.00. As I was about to leave with it, a woman said “wait just a minute this framed photo comes with it. There are two photos in that which has Kaiser Wilhelm and Hindenburg with him. The Nazi soldier whose backpack it was in and who wore the helmet I now have, is identified in one of these photos by the soldier who brought this home by putting an X on the glass of the framed picture. The man’s home had every medal and shoulder strap etc. he had taken off off the German POWs. I doubt if there is a copy of the two photos that exist now.
@@Bucksighter No I was too interested in buying things. He also had World War I things that belonged to his Father including a gas mask and a doughboy helmet and some tinnies. It was quite a treasure trove for me.
I have an M42 on its way, and i can't wait. I remember as a kid playing with this helmet in the attic of my friends grandparents' house. They passed away about 20 yrs ago, and I told my friend I'd love to have it. Did i expect 20 plus yrs later? My old friend messaged me wanting to send me the helmet. The house was starting to leak and go downhill, so he went to help clean it out and found the helmet. He also found a box of his grandpa's bring backs from WW2.
Hi i have a question! I have seen a video. A boy took a ww2 helmet stripped the paint repainted it anthracite with Birdsand in the paint. He called it restauration. I think he ruined it. What do you think?
