Making a return after almost a decade away from the series, WWE 2K24 sees the return of Special Guest Referee matches, with the new version of the match featuring several updates and improvements over the original, including some brand new features!
In this video we take a special look at the new match type, with 9 updates and improvements to Special Guest Referee matches in WWE 2K24!
New features covered in the video include the ability to wear a referee shirt, which wasn't possible in the previous version of the match and the introduction of "modes", which allows you to switch between Referee Mode and Superstar Mode.
Referee Mode sees all of your actions repalced with referee motions such as counting pinfalls and count outs, warning players and starting arguments.
Superstar Mode gives access to your regular moveset, which allows you to get in on the action and perform moves.
Returning features include the ability to control the speed of pinfalls and count outs, which you can use to your advantage to make a fast count, a slow count, or decide not to count at all.
You can also check on submissions, and with a stored finisher, opt to screw players over with a Screwjob Finish by holding the A button.
Throughout the match your referee performance is monitored using a Performance Meter, which should it empty, while see you replaced by another referee via a special cutscene.
