WWE Backlash France Completely Surprised Me! (REVIEW) 

FRANCE DESERVES A WRESTLEMANIA. They were absolutely INCREDIBLE. Totally wasn’t expecting Tonga Loa to show up and join Solo and his brother.

The crowd absolutely stole the show.

They were so into the faces and against the heels (outside of the main event) they reacted more to two counts than the heels winning. A real crowd. 😭

I'm 37. I've been watching wrestling since the early 90s. Around 2018/19 and especially during the pandemic, I fell out of love with it. I barely watched any wrestling from 2020 until the build up to this years Mania. And my god, am I hooked again. Triple H fully in charge, the TKO takeover has done wonders for this product. I feel like a brand new fan all over again. Wrestlemania and especially last nights Backlash are thee first PPVs I fully watched in around 4/5 years and I loved every second of them. I'm excited to see what's to come from this new Era.

I expected it to be good since everytime you have low expectations for a wwe live event it turns out way better than you woulda thought, and i figured the crowd would be hype since every international crowd goes crazy

I honestly enjoyed the show overall too. Crowd was INSANE & the matches was just fun overall! Maybe predictable results but we all know that happens. I was hoping for Howdy which i am sure many was.... hopefully soon!! 🤞🏻😁

Because there are so many options on the card for Bloodline members, I can see them being the new NWO and taking over the shows and having feuds with all the roster and the faces all banding together to take them on. With the crescendo being Cody vs The Rock.

I think either we get an OC reunion and AJ gets a rematch, or when Uncle Howdy returns, Cody is the person he feuds with.

Stratton with the money in the bank briefcase just makes sense

I would like to see Jacob Fatu introduced when Jey and Jimmy get back together to fight the New Bloodline. Evens it 3 on 3 and extends Romans return until maybe right before Survivor Series. The Rock returning for SummerSlam to feud Cody and revealing that he is the new Tribal Chief is enough for the summer imo.

1…. 2…. SACREBLEU!!😂👍👍 Man that got me every time they did it. Predictable yes, But in knowing that, They at least delivered solid matches Up and down the card. There was an odd spot in the women’s tag match, but not enough to make it a low spot.

This crowd was amazing ❤. I'm looking forward to Berlin 🤗

The only thing that surprised me was the appearance of Tama Tonga's brother and a little bit of the choreography at the Priest vs USO match And of course, the awsome crowd

Backlash was awesome, a few take aways for me are 1. I feel like at this point maybe Jacob Fatu is going to come in as a good guy maybe some kind of middle ground guy that Paul brings in maybe he goes full face and teams with the Usos to add that fourth person to the good guy side. 2. Awesome to see Tanga Loa back in WWE G.O.D. is going to be awesome in WWE. 3. I agree with you on Jade looks like the rumors of her having trouble remembering spots may be true hopefully she cleans it up quick before people notice more and sour on her. I totally agree on the Damian Priest angle seems like his big thing will be the eventual break up of the Judgment Day and last with Cody I hope they don't keep showing these nagging injury angles then he goes into a big match looking like the underdog because he's "hurt" and he has to fight through it or whatever as I feel that's going to get old...other than that nice PLE ready for the next one..

My man, Matt. I love all your videos, and appreciate what you do. Please, I'm begging, please refrain from spoilers in the thumbs and titles...at least for a couple days.

10:40 Ultimate Warrior style. Hogan could go longer in his 40s then Cargill can now. She's a female Ultimate Warrior right now. Extremely muscular + extremely green.

I never try to expect too much... but Mania was such a season finale kind of show that I knew this was going to feel fresh. Even without more potential matches or spots and numerous stars out, it wasn't necessary. We don't need all the belts and blood rivalries every time and France made every match feel like a potential main event. The length of the show was perfect and the pace was even better. No match seemed shortened or rushed and this feel of a new season/era/whatever seems like it just completed a solid warm up. Was every match perfect? No. I know a lot of people are thrilled for Stratton's performance. I don't necessarily have anything negative but it seemed like she took a bit to work off the nerves and showed a little green early, in which Bayley and Naomi had to stretch and/or idle for her approaches. Again, not enough for dislike and she did get in the groove eventually. It's really beneficial for her to have pulled duty with them in front of THAT crowd. She's not ready to shoulder a title yet but I expect her to capitalize on experience with every go until she does win a title. I'd say making her Queen of the Ring or briefcase holder buys her enough legitimacy and time. I think she SHOULD spin her tires on Bayley but a returning Charlotte would be the perfect person to elevate her. Priest/Jey was a very good RAW ending. I've been honed in on the Judgment Day drama which is intriguing enough for Priest's first run. In fact, even if predictable to me, Priest vs Demon writes itself and will be the exclamation point for Priest before dropping to Drew.

The Jade match was going great until the ref threw them off with saying kairi wasn’t the legal man as they were setting up a spot.. it then got super clunky until they were able to get back to that spot .. like i get it kairi not legal but if it’s not the end of the match i think he coulda just went with it

Backlash was really good a lot better than what I expected.

My mom had 20 minutes to kill Friday before her show so she put on smackdown It was nice sitting with her watching the graps but our takeaway was the crowd counting "Un Deux Sacrebleu"

B ples should definitely be outside of the US as much as possible the US crowds are almost always hype for A ples but even when it’s a pretty mid-ish card the international crowd carries B ples to be really fun to watch.

I loved Orton smiling as the crowd sang voices. The crowd was great, singing intro themes and doing the announcements. The singing for AJ was cool. Although AJ seemed a little confused by it at first.

This PPV was incredibly lackluster imo. The only match I enjoyed was the KO/Orton tag match. Every match's outcome was predictable. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but only if I enjoy the match building to the end. Which I didn't for most of the matches. Also, I feel like I'm the only person who hates crowd noise. Lol To me, it's really annoying and distracting.

A show without 2002 what chants etc breath of fresh air France was on fire

I’m pretty new to watching wwe on tv I’ve always been more into the games than the actual product so going into backlash I didn’t expect much of a show since people always talk so much trash on this PLE. But holy cow dude these were some awesome matches I booted up 2k24 to play them myself right after I was done watching. I absolutely agree jade and Bianca’s match was imo the only rough one. I think one major thing Jade can improve on is selling big moves because whenever she gets knocked down she kinda just lays there like a dead fish no facial expression eyes wide open it’s very odd next to Bianca who’s flopping around holding her face and kicking.

I think the blood line story is a long story that will end at wrestle mania 41 with Roman beating rock wwe loves to make there too guys “iconic “ after they have there main runs which means Cody will drop the belt at summer slam or survivor series to the rock and Roman wins at mania they don’t want to use Roman’s heel run as his iconic run so that’s why I think he wins as a face at mania next year

Backlash was great, with how good smackdown roster is I think it'll be 3 hours on USA

These international PLE's make these Minor shows so appealing

Good video Assemble. The key with Cody is having his opponents generate heat on him. Build ups like the one we just experienced with AJ Styles won't do anything for his reign and ultimately may lead to fans turning on him. In my opinion, Cody looked like a goof trading "two street" gestures with AJ Styles before what was supposed to be a big match. As a face, Cody excels at having the odds stacked against him and then struggling to overcome those odds. This needs to be worked into his current title run in order to maximize its potential.

I would love a Tiffany/Nia Jax vs. Bianca/Jade.

I think Jacob will team up with the Usos and Roman at Summer slam

Going back to the American crowds is going to be depressing compared to those fans in France. They completely made the show from beginning to end. They never stopped. Amazing. It’s also great to see Tanga Loa back in the WWE for the first time in 10 years. He was known as Camacho back then with his partner Hunico on NXT and the main roster.

I thought Backlash was awesome and I think it went well for the PPV/PLE after WrestleMania.

I liked the crowd for the Babyfaces. But I didn't like them for the heels. They should have booed the heels just as loudly as they cheered for the faces. It's a special circumstance I know because it's rare for WWE to come to their country but still, AJ worked his ass off to get them to boo him and they cheered more for him than they did Cody. That's not Pro Wrestling. Once in a while crowds like this are fun and they definitely made this PLE more fun but this is not Pro Wrestling. Tough crowds make better wrestlers.

I watch it and that crowd was insane. I have never heard a crowd that into it. I'm sorry but crowds on this side of the pond need to step it up big time! That crowd made us look bad.That was best part of the night. I'd watch it again for the crowd.

I have a huge respect for that crow. In that womens tag match at some point they absolutely lost the match. They had no idea whats going on. But still that crowd was so forgiving and even gave them "this is awesome" chant afterwards.

When do you think Uncle Howdy is gonna return?! And do you think Cody doing the Kamura is a sign that Brock is coming back?

The Crowd was amazing wish I can go to a show like that how everyone is just super happy and having one hell of a great time. Worst match ever womens tag championship second priest and Jay should have been a great match but it sucked

The people in France was simply awesome the whole damn night!!! This is what I love.. the crowd makes the matches too, it adds to the excitement and I feel give the wrestlers energy to put extra into what they are doing. If a crowd sits there judging everyone and everything it will show… Backlash was just magnificent!! I’m very happy and was highly entertained by all the matches.. for Jade I’m glad she is getting the trial by fire approach and learn as she goes because I was telling my husband( whose a casual watcher) I told him since she came on I was nervous they WWE would just have her doing the hot tags and squash finishes and nothing else.. so I’m glad we got more time out of her… plus with her working with the amazing vets there..she will become better and improve her ring awareness fast.

Two moments with the woman’s tag team match that stick out is one, Kairi went for a pin and the ref told her she wasn’t legal where she obviously was. Second at the end Kairi was the legal person but they pinned Ahska, unless I missed a tag but the match had a lot of issues. If they’re going to give Jade a belt for a moment she’s been with the company then Tiffany Stratton should have won for what she’s been able to do.

I think the crowd made it a great show. I genuinely thought during the match Priest could have lost. The interference in the opening tag match was expected but I think everyone thought it was gonna be Jacob Fatu. I’m hoping Jimmy, Jay & Jacob form their own group with Rock & Roman each leading one of them then eventually they come together to take on a WWE version of Bullet Club featuring Cody, AJ, Fin & The OC with GoD torn between which group to join.

I think European crowds are WAY better than the US crowd!! Probably because they don't have live shows every week.

My buds n I found the crowd really annoying. Felt like I was watching soccer. Getting sick of these PLE's in different countries honestly. Once in awhile, ok, but seems like every PLE lately

It was utter garbage. Especially compared to last year's Backlash. The crowd was energetic yes however they were by and large where more into themselves than what was going on in the ring. Save for Owens Orton vs the Bloodline. And Rhodes VS Aj . The crowd chants where the equivalent of doing a wave.

WWE under Triple H is boring and predictable. Backlash was no different.

I enjoyed the energy of the crowd, but honestly, it became a bit distracting. They seemed at times to be making noise for the sake of noise. I get why they're this way at shows, but you could tell at times, it through the wrestlers off with the psychology of their matches. And because of that, I was more focused on the crowd and not the matches.
