I’m 51 years old. Generation X…Born in the early 70’s and was in high school in the late 80’s. I grew up on 1970’s and 80’s wrestling. It Brings a tear to your eye. This is a gut wrenching reality check when you see all your childhood wrestling heroes have passed on. Unbelievable how time flies bye. We are not guaranteed another breath folks!
I say it all the time. Nothing makes life go by faster than being a wrestling fan (at least from the Golden Years and sadly the Attitude Era as well). Im 47 and blown away at some of their ages and im older than some of them now (which never feels right)
But unfortunately it’s not. There is a clear difference with steroid use vs abuse/misuse. The only a few wrestlers that I see in that entire list that have died from long term effects from abuse are Ultimate Warrior, Davey Boy Smith, Superstar Billy Graham (not featured), Rick Rude, Hercules Hernandez and Butch Reed. If you’re a wrestler, the amount of bodily punishment that you go through in your lifetime is unimaginable, and the long term effects from that are absolutely real. CTE is not just an NFL thing anymore, It is becoming more prevalent in contact/collision/striking sports more than ever before…even Soccer. I think most people blame steroids because it’s so easy to blame something that is so taboo and frowned upon. And steroids don’t cause CTE. But a huge majority of people know so little about them, I mean a little, like not a lot. And it’s not even close. And lots of people still don’t know the benefits of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). The details of this particular topic goes FAR beyond this thread. I just hope that this can give you a greater respect and different perspective on the topic of steroids and wrestling.
@michaelantolini8135 Warrior's father and grandfather all died young of heart attacks. So may have been genetic. Rick Rude commit suicide after having his penis removed.
R.I.P. Brickhouse Brown, R.I.P. Bruiser Brody, R.I.P. Fritz, David, Chris and Mike Von Erich. R.I.P. Missing Link, Blackjack Mulligan, Larry the Axe Hennig, Virgil, Stu Hart, and Corporal Kirchner and Public Enemy.
Brutal to see all these talented entertainers gone too soon. The toll this job took on them was insane. But man growing up 80s and 90s this was must see tv. Sad some of these people who entertained us and left lasting memories in our minds are gone too soon.
Yes , you are right, the lifestyle and the steroids, road rage, they're all had success in the wwe, raw, smackdown, it's sad t😢 they were all great wrestlers,ay they...R.I.P. may God bless them and their families.🙏❤️✝️😞 .
Who the hell would sign up to be a wrestler. Lucky if ya make it past your 50s. R.I.P all those legends. Thank you for making my childhood so much better. Much love from new zealand.
Brian Pillman Sr.'s son, also named Brian, is in NXT under the ring name Lexis King. I saw the younger Brian Pillman in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) under his real name.
Sad to see so many of the greats that have passed away from childhood watching them on Georgia Championship Wrestling, and Jim Crockett Promotion's NWA Mid-Atlantic championship wrestling
Bobby Heenan was probably my favorite bad guy manager. The things he said just to annoy and get under your skin was comical. I wished they could have used a better picture of him. Sid eady just recently passed. I hope I spelled his name correctly. Bobby, you are sadly missed. May you and other wrestlers that built the WWE rest in peace.
RIP Bray Wyatt (May 23, 1987 - August 24, 2023) His younger brother Bo Dallas (Uncle Howdy) is still keeping Bray's legacy alive as leader of the group the Wyatt Sicks (Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, Nikki Cross, and Erick Rowan are the other members).
Yeah I knew it ! Always some clown in the comments that has to bring him up. That entire list if not most are Legends , nothing special about Bray over anyone else
Some if not most of us are in our 30s or older.... this should give us that much more incentive to not take life for granted you only get one and before a blink of an eye it could be over before you know it Worry less and be thankful more
Jose Lothario was another they left off the list. Regional guy for the most part but one of the best workers ever. Those old guys could wrestle circles around these guys today. Today its punch, kick and your finishing move, with the exception of a few like Undertaker, Chris Jericho etc.
May they all rip and thanks for the entertainment. One of my favorite wrestlers just passed a few days ago at age 63.They didn't have my other favorite wrestler on this list, Bruiser Brody.
My Dad used to tell me that professional Wrestlers are just actors and He can tell it's scripted, which it is.....the idea is one will win and the other Looses....
You got road warrior animal picture wrong animal is the one with the spider makeup not hawk there both awsome thow best tag team ever.loved legion of doom.
Ring name for Jon Huber is incorrect...he wrestled as Luke Harper during his run in WWE. He was Brodie Lee during his time with AEW. This needs to be either fixed, or re-done completely since several guys...and gals have since left us. Sid Eudy is the latest, and what about Superstar Billy Graham? How about giving some love to the ladies...Miss Elizabeth, Mae Young, Rhonda Singh/Bertha Faye, Chyna, Moolah, and Luna Vaschon.
So many Stampede wrestling stars that went on to WWF doe'snt get enough props Bulldogs,Harts,Pillman,Benoit so many others McMahon even ripped off the storyline thing from Stampede.
