I still have this game on playstation. I remember spending hours in the sound test. I would listen to all the wrestlers hilarious sayings. Not to mention recording all the wrestlers theme music on cassette. These weren't 30 second samples. They put whole songs on here. So, I was a pretty cool kid at the time having theme music. If you want to hear it. It's at the very end of the sound test and going through the sound test is so long.
Mankind should have been included for sure. i think this roster was reflective of wrestlers from Wrestlemania 12 which would have been march of 1996. Mankinds in ring debut was right after that.
as someone who likes Pitfighter, Guardians Of The Hood, Mortal Kombat, and Wrestlemania The Arcade Game, i love digitized graphics. it would be nice if they made more sequels to these games or something.
The reason is we've come to expect a minimum of 30fps at high resolution. Since you need to show those animation frames at a moment's notice, you have to keep them in memory.... which results in unrealistic memory requirements (2x the resolution is 4x the memory). In current generation it's impossible to use 2D frames without them looking like a stuttery pixelated (or blurry) mess. This is why Guilty Gear devs figured out how to keep their style while doing it in 3D!
Fun facts: In the WWF In Your House the video game, you can turn the in-game power-ups on and off by just going into the game's options menu. Plus, the DOS version of In Your House is the best version because the wrestler's stages play their entrance music themes in the backgrounds.
I did play this a ton with friends back in the day, but the only thing it really has over Wrestlemania is a 4 player mode. Odd that was never included in the home ports. I never liked the design choices of the unique rings, always felt like they hadn't been finished, like they were missing shaders/shadows. Etc. Also, If Double J was going to be in the game, did someone replace him? as 11 wrestlers is an odd number, surely there should have been 12? Sunny felt like a cut scene type character. so it wasn't her.
Mom can we get wrestlemania the arcade game Mom: we already have wrestlemania the arcade game at home Wrestlemania the arcade game at home: in your house
@@Deathtank75 yes! 😆I remember getting this game when I was 12 yrs old and buying into the hype reading the gamepro magazines and the electronic monthly's just hyped af for it cuz I loved WMTAG and then when I got it as much as I tried to love it I still knew lt was hot garbage 😁 all I kept saying was wow what happen this is NoThInG like wrestlemania I kept playing it though cuz I didn't want Momz to trip😂
@@boomdaddycool4328 same here. i rented it from Blockbuster and i had high hopes. Shawn Michaels moveset was lame in this one. a crucifix pin instead of a frankensteiner... really?
Great review, and I'm so glad you decided to feature this quirky, yet oddly fascinating grappler. I've owned all three versions (Saturn, PC and PSX) and still fire-up my PlayStation copy once in a while, just to experience it's sheer weirdness or simply to play as Owen, Warrior or Vader. Flawed, it is, but wrestling fans of our age will undoubtedly know and, in a bizarre way, love be this title.
I had this Sega Saturn. Me and my friends mainly used it for all the entrance music(if you put it in a CD player) to wrestle each other lol. Owen Hart was the best tho
Acclaim was always hilarious. Like the time where they were advertising for a turok game(turok 3?)in the UK and they offered parents money to name their kid "turok".
I learned from AVGN wrestling episode that the SNES version is missing bam bam bigalo and Yokozuna. I’m not knowledgeable on wrestling but apparently it’s a good game.
After you know general gaming history for a decade, it's so nice to dive into developer history. I've started to view my roms that way (that would be cool to organize the cartridges that way, but I do those by year). I've never heard this Acclaim history and it's just been waiting for me, lol
Watching the over-the-top-action of this game finally reminded me: With our esteemed hist now covering wrestling games, _maybe_ we could see a review of Ultimate M.U.S.C.L.E: Legends VS The Next Generation for the GCN
Oh, awesome- this is timely. I was working on a thing about this game recently as well. This is a very weird addition, especially because, despite being a HUGE wrestling fan during the time this game came out, I never even HEARD OF IT. I still don't know how that's possible. I mean, a game where you can play the actual Ultimate Warrior, played by the Warrior himself. Incredible.
I remember buying the game as a kid because I played Wreslemania The Arcade Game... I was so disappointed by In Your House. I still hope someone remakes a wrestling game in this style though! Current superstars with that MK3 feel! Yeahhhhh
if you watched wwf at the time and read the magazine you would have known about it. i rented it at blockbuster when it came out. i had high expectations since i loved Wreslemania The arcade Game. i was pretty disappointed with the gameplay even though it was still fun.
I would have tried this if I had known about it. I loved the Sega Genesis port of Wrestlemania the Arcade Game growing up. Me and my brother would play it a lot. I had no idea there was a Playstation version of it or I might of given that a try too. Although I mostly stuck to RPG's on the Playstation.
the roster in Wrestlemania The Arcade Game was the 1994 roster even though it came out in 1995. that's why Shawn Michaels is still wearing his cow print tights in the game.
Since Sunny was in with her Bodydonnas gear, I wonder if Skip was originally planned as well? This is still the only WWF game I never played from the Acclaim era, as my family just had an N64. And I still haven't played it, as it doesn't even seem to work with PS1 emulators without crashing.
Wow I can still pick out the menu tune for Smackdown 2 after all these years... Yeah, WWF Smackdown 2 is probably the only one I played the shit out of. Will wait patiently for that one.
Lots of fun memories with this game. I owned the PC version first but, as years passed I figured that the most straightforward way to play this should be on a console. Well... the PC version featured the theme songs of the wrestlers on their home ring during the match. PlayStation and Saturn versions did not, which takes away most of the fun and almost ruined my memories of WWF In Your House.
I kinda wish we had gotten other historical Wrestlers in these digitized games like Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Ric Flair, The Road Warriors, Mr. Perfect, Andre the Giant, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat among others Imagine an Attitude Era game like this with The Rock, Steve Austin, Mankind, Kane, Chyna and more Even a WCW or ECW game like this. The possibilities are endless.
I always thought a major contribution for it not being successful was they never made a Nintendo version. Had one existed, sucky or not, it would be improved it's popularity.
I just found this at a thrift shop for 3 bucks! I loved WrestleMania the Arcade Game on the Genesis back in the day and was so excited for this the moment I saw a commercial on during RAW. Never got it tho..... Till now!
For some reason this game seemed to be unavailable for purchase on the Sega Saturn in my corner of North America. Stores would have it for purchase for Playstation but if they had the Saturn version at all it was only for rent. Not sure if the game was a “hot seller” or simply “not worth carrying”.
I wanna see WCW/nWo Thunder for the PSOne. Make sure to bring up the code that doubles the roster size. It unlocks joke characters, devs, Nitro Girls, announcers, and a few wrestlers that should've been on the main roster (Ric Flair)
I got this game for the PC on Ebay in like 2000. Underrated and fun. I actually like the roster much better than Wrestlemania; The Arcade Game. 1993-95 were the rebuilding years for WWF. 1996 is when they started to turn it around and had better characters.
I think you should create a wrestling focused channel like RGT85. Considering your background, would love to get some insider knowledge and critique .. yeaaah
I love for you to do a video on the Neo Geo title "3 count bout". I'm thinking of getting it on the Nintendo switch eShop, and would like to see a review of it. Thank you.✌
He'lllooooo. I've been playing the crap out of both of these lately.. Also, way over in A small town in Illinois here. Glad you got it figured out..The channel situation. I've watched your vids for quite A long time actually. Would have sucked. Also, Holy crap! I knew nothing of that Acclaim story. That's crazy.
Nice job Kacklaim on the fraudulent behavior, holy moly. Thanks for the video, cannot remember even hearing of this game. If Dave Lang took part in developing any Midway wrestling games during his time there 2003-2008 I think he'd make a good source for little tidbits of information, he's a great guy.
I would love this game to come out with an updated roster. Mankind Paul bearer chyna. And more from this era. The Godwins. Who else was popular at this time maybe psycho sid.
@@sirgodney9384 I agree that allstars is the MUCH better game, but battlegrounds has the goofy powerups and fast shallow gameplay, similar to this game. Fun in short spurts, but not really worth the effort.
i was a massive wrestling fan in 1996 and i loved i rented this when it came out. i loved Wrestlemania The Arcade Game and i had high expectations. the main problem for me with this game was the gameplay. it did not live up to it's predecessor in gameplay. the moves looked clunky and the movement and hit detection wasn't smooth and fast like Wrestlemania The Arcade Game. Shawn Michaels who was my favorite character to use in the last game has a bad moveset in this game. also there are strange things left out aesthetically such as the heart on Bret Harts tights and Shawn Michaels with white wrist guards??? overall i still like the game because it is fun but it could have been so much better if Midwayy made it. also Mankind should have been included in the game.
I really hated this game so much as a kid lol. I got it after already having WCW vs NWO World Tour so the gameplay was too atrocious for me to ever stick with it long enough. The art style and graphics also turned me off, especially this being around the time me and my friends would spend recess "playing" WWF. On a positive note, although it may not be talked about much now it was a "greatest hits" title when I got it so it must have sold decently at least
