That wasn't Mad Dog's real speaking voice. He made it sound gravely for his promos. He had a much smoother "normal sounding" voice in real life. I used to see him almost every weekend with a beer in his hand sitting on his front porch in the 1980's when I was a kid. He would always wave.
I beg to differ. His vocal chords were damaged over the course of 8 years of intense amateur wrestling. He sounded gavelly no matter how low his voice was. He may have amplified it for radio and tv but he never made it up. I know. He was second oldest of the family. I am the 11th.
