Len Kemp was born in November 1919 and was drafted into the British Army in January 1940. After serving in the BEF and being evacuated from Dunkirk, he was transferred into the 46th Reconnaissance Regiment, and later saw action in the Allied Campaigns in Tunisia and Italy.
Here he describes the Allied landings at Green Beach, during the invasion of Salerno in September 1943. During this action, he was the driver of a Bren Gun Carrier and assisted with firing mortars at the German troops.
I recorded this interview in November 2011.
