The conversions were quiet common in the 80s and 90s Mk3 Escort shell with MK2 running gear. It was the way to put a new shell on an old car. It's become less common as it's not a historic car so can't run in the class. It's still a cheaper way of building rear drive car as the shells are not so sort after and you can run what engine box and brakes that you like. Young Roberts carries on the family tradition and drives it hard.
