I really enjoy your teaching on working on old wooden sailboats and I'd love to have some videos of you telling stories and history.. I can tell that you have some great stories
My kinda workshop, I only wish mine was as tidy as yours. Mine is full of old boat stuff, a boat, a few kayaks, stuff I salvaged out of old trawlers, 2 Ducati Condors(ex S wiss 350cc 1 cylinder low geared mountain scout bikes), my Dad’s old carpentry tools(he built several clinker boats from 15-20 feet as a hobby), some timber, sadly not too much teak or mahogany but stuff that will be handy some time! I always imagine myself doing more projects there but work elsewhere has separated us. Soon??? I used to do some wood carving but over the last 30 years I have been busy looking after my mussel farm and tourist passenger boat but now am collecting old boats (am hoping to start a community restoration/sail training project) to stop the being scrapped. Just got a 1913 oak planked bermuden rigged cutter with a 60’ spruce mast, a 25’spruce plank boom with integrated belay pins and more wooden blocks than I have ever seen in one place before. She was restored in Stockholm/Sweden in the 80’s/90’s but then left to rot but I think I have got her in time! I don’t know how much experience you have with old wooden boats, I think a lot from what I have seen of your videos and I must send you some photos of her so I can ask your opinion on a few wooden issues! Send me an email if u can to info@seafariireland.com I would love to be near your neck of the woods to give you a hand doing some sanding or oiling wood(my favourite pastime) and help you get your lady(the wooden one) on the water but alas at present I am stuck here on the old sod trying to wrap up my farm/tourist projects. Looking forward to meeting you on the water sometime. By the way, your lady has the most gilded ass I have ever seen on a sailboat! SkipRay, Kerry, The Emerald Isle.
