Wynton! Will you please run for president ? I'm serious sir. In this speech you took the words out of my mouth sir. There's not one thing in it that I disagree or take issue with sir! No joke! My only regret is that I've not had an opportunity to talk with you in person. Do I respect your musical abilities? Absolutely! That said your courage in being able to address deeper issues and with a sense of integrity is always what I've respect about you most! Sir.

Mr. Marsalis is the real deal. Whether he's blowing a solo or the truth, he always captures my attention. I've learned more about jazz and life from him.

W.M. should put classicaal music on the shelf and concentrate fully on jazz. Trying to excell in both genres creates an emulsion of music. Playing jazz means you're expressing a freedom of improvising through much creativity from your heart and mind. Miles nailed it on Wynton: "He's a good trumpet player, but he' doesn't have anything extra. He's precise. He's a good trumpet player, you know, he's straight, though."

You have no clue how swingin wynton is, how great his big band charts are. Miles never contributed to big band and swing music like Wynton does.

@@Yo-sb9st In '46, Miles was a member of the great Billy Eckstine big band and in '47, Miles was with the fantastic Dizzy Gilespie big band. Too, Miles , in '46, was with Benny Carter's swingin' big band. You can find a video on Y.T. You can't get much "swinginer" than these bands Miles played in!

I love Miles, but he missed the mark here. Blood on the Fields is a masterpiece. Massive contribution to big band music in composition and performance.
