"The Wyoming Backcountry Discovery Route is a multi-day off-pavement ride for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles through the most dramatic and rugged landscapes in Wyoming. Beginning in Baggs, WY, the route traces the mountain ranges to the east through the Sierra Madre and Medicine Bow Ranges, crosses west to the Wind River Range, then goes back east and north through the Bighorn Mountains, eventually ending at a remote Wyoming-Montana border.
Almost every section includes some moderately technical riding, as the remote two-track flows through regions of vast high-desert, short-grass prairies, and alpine climates. You will experience expansive views from the summit of two different 11,000-foot mountains, cross two major rim escarpments and pass through many other seldom visited areas and historic mining towns. This is the most remote BDR, so plan ahead and be prepared to have a true backcountry adventure."
Hello!
I'm Brady, AKA Mountainman, I've been a soldier, ski bum, police officer, government worker, photographer, and all around nomad. Now I travel on my motorcycle, make videos, and share them with the world. Along the way I do dumb stuff off road, camp, fly drones, take pictures, learn about culture and history and do my best to take you with me.
In early 2022 I set off on my motorcycle Yennefer (2021 Tenere 700) for an adventure with no set destination or timeline. Come along with me and let’s see what will happen as I try to ride until I can't.
Bike: Yamaha Tenere 700
Luggage: Mosko Moto Scout Panniers, Backcountry Duffle, and Hood tankbag
Navigation: Carpe Iter Tablet and Drive Mode Dashboard 2
Cameras: GoPro Hero 11, Hero 9, GoPro Max, GoPro Hero 8, Skydio 2, DJI Mavic Air 2
Gear: Adventure Spec Jacket/Armor/Gloves/Pants/Base Layers, Alpinestars Toucan boots, Arai XD4.

Keep up the long videos. I can't do these rides right now, but longer video feels like i am.

As a Wyoming native I find these WYBDR videos thoroughly entertaining. I speak for the majority who call Wyoming home when I say that we absolutely hate most tourists. We have so many issues with vandalism, littering, property damage, theft, and just assholes in general. Thank you for being respectful.

1:41:12 20 Year old DRZ - LOL. I loved that commentary. I plan on doing parts of the WBDR on my 22 year old DRZ! I've been spending a lot of time this winter doing all sorts of maintenance and checks on it, including replacing worn parts. I was watching this video out in my garage while wrenching on my DRZ today. I mounted a 55" Smart TV in my garage just so I could have some entertainment while wrenching on my bikes.

1:34:50 I ride solo a lot too. I just don't go as fast as I would if I was with my riding buddies.

Good stuff - I rode this the first and second week of August. Beaver rim was much more rutted up with a lot of holes holding water - but otherwise I had really good conditions other than dodging some storms the first day I rode the red desert. I quite liked Ten Sleep and the Carter Inn - good breakfast. I also stayed in Atlantic City at Wild Bill's - there are some cabins there and they serve breakfast. There was a guy hiking the divide trail that passes right near there, he was interesting to talk to. Where you found the mud, I thought you were going to plug your front tire - I've seen a picture or two of the T7 having that problem. I think if I were to buy one, I'd probably do the high front fender mod - it looks pretty cool and avoids that. Hope you enjoyed COBDR as well - some of my favorite stuff in there around the alpine loop / lake city / silverton - really amazing in the montains there. And I don't know if you made it to NMBDR, but that one is really cool too -- you can get that green hatch chili on everything there - great food along the route. Cloudcroft, Reserve, Truth or Consequences were some of my favorites along the route.

Love the videos! Have you done a review on your adventure spec gear? How’s wearing the super shirt for long periods of time? I’ve been looking into the linesman jacket too. Does it keep you warm? Breathable? More of a summer jacket? Would love to hear from someone who has used it and isn’t a RU-vid salesman.

First off I want you to know I love your videos. I do have concerns. I saw you riding on paycheck ice in 19 degree weather close to semi trucks. I’ve seen you almost want to play with a dieing rattlesnake. I’ve watched you break an ankle riding in too soft sand much too fast. We are all responsible for our own safety. With that said there are hoards of people who unfortunately think that because you did it it must be safe. It is not. Please I ask that you tone down a bit before some hapless fool gets himself killed because he saw you do it.wind chill at 19 degrees only riding 30 mph is enough even with a coat to drop your body temp enough that you louse consciousness while riding.

Nice video but man they're becoming way too long takes me 3 -4 days to watch them. I used to make long video on my channel but now splitting it to 20-30 min. People are getting bored with long content. It looks interesting to us while we are riding but when watching it different story....thanks God for YT premium

The shorter videos are still available. These are for the people who requested it as a single video.

Meerkat, I like your videos. But they are way too long. I don't have time to watch them. My threshold of RU-vid watching is about 20 minute - maybe 30 minutes. If it is real dramatic or something. I like motorcycles, but I won't watch segments over an 1 hour. Please break up your segments to less than 30 minutes, I would watch more. Thank you for time and efforts.

Can't please everyone. These are the full length versions of the individual episodes I originally published. I was asked repeatedly by others to combine them so they could be watched all at once. You are welcome to watch the shorter videos, they are readily available on my channel.

While I hear you, you are the minority. Not only does RU-vid promote longer videos in the algorithm, this is the style of most content creators.

@Captndarty my metrics show 80%+ are still watching past 30 minutes. They want longer videos, I'll provide them that way.
