I am surprised to see lake names mentioned in the comments so much. It doesn't take much pressure on these backcountry lakes to clean out all of the trophy sized fish.
They don’t have the red slash like like cutthroats. I read this guy’s book many years ago fishing the Rocky Mountain back country excellent informative.
To anyone who wants to master backcountry fly fishing, this guy is probably the best in the world. Buy his book and memorize it!!!! Rich, you're the man!!! So glad to see you on film doing one of your favorite activities: catching fat goldens on the roof of the world! Thank you so much for everything you've done for me and the rest of the fly fishing community. BTW, you're kids are better fly fishers than you are!!!! You never caught hogs like that at their age. LOL!
Well done! I love your book - Fly-Fishing the Rocky Mountain Backcountry...for those watching this video, his book is THE book on researching Fly Fishing in the Rockies. This past summer was my second trip to the Winds because of Rich's written words. Thanks.
1. from the Green River lake TH - Stonehammer and Peak lakes (as shown in the vid) via the CDT, Clear and Faler via Clear creek trail 2. from the TH (forgot the name) north of Pinedale - Elbow and Slim lakes (especially the outlet of Slim full of big Goldens)
im all for 90% of this video and so cool to see you taking your kids out. but tailing towels and gloves? you're killing most those fish you handle. might as well keep them. id love to see you promote better fish handling because you have a giant following. Not trying to be a hater just trying to watch out for the awesome opportunity it is to catch those fish in such a pristine place. Thanks again for the cool content.
The people who comment on this video make me feel kinda sick. Calm down man. It's fishing and you guys arenall like read this book about secret fishing spots Iike it's weird
Do people really need to coach you on how to land a fish? Beautiful trout, but to be fully outfitted and have no clue or receive unwarranted continuous advice is bullsh... It can't be your first fish. Probably not your last. How did the guy in the blue windbreaker figure it out by himself? "We can let him go, if you want... not too stressed out. The fish has given a wave of his fin, agreeing that the gravel was acceptable." Hahaha... "Let's have a go at the fairy shrimp..." Nothing like assertive empowerment.
