Wow 399 is 27 yrs old this year which is getting up there for a Grizzly , with only one cub this time instead of 4 . One of Her off spring of the four Cubs she had last cycle gave birth to triplets , yes 3. Amazing . We saw 4 large Grizzlies in B C. , and two 1yr Cubs Last year in the wild , on back roads . Really Up close ,from the truck ,close enough for us Thank you . They were HUGE ! We were fortunate. There’s nothing like it !
Me and my wife just seen her and her cub a few days ago at Grand Teton during a bear jam. We asked the ranger if she was 399 and she said " Yes, she's 399" We had time to see them from a distance for a short time then they both left into the thick forrest. We were so fortunate to see 399 with her cub. Before then we seen 1 black bear and after 399 and her cub an hour later we seen another bear jam and seen a mother grizzly with her cub cross the road. A couple of days after my wife read that a bear died by a car. I believe it was in Grand Teton but maybe it was in Yellowstone. I forgot what park she told me. That was sad news.
I see momma 399 and it reminds me of a time long ago when life was filled with love and you knew you could count on mom to love to protect to teach and to just be there for you we must cherish her as we do not know how many more Mother’s Day she has left. I celebrate this beautiful bear, this soul, this light of life. God bless you 399 you truly are a Queen
