That Cable arm scene is even more brutal when you realise it's not a cybernetic arm, it's his real arm that's been consumed by the techno-organic virus.
So, according to the showrunner and writers, that Peter and MJ scene was to serve as confirmation that Peter found the real MJ after his show ended. I dont know of anyone remembers, but the 90s Spider-Man ended on a cliffhanger. That was their way of saying like, "Hey, Peter found her, we're all good." They also expressed extreme interest in doing this for the 90s Spider-Man show, so hopefully we do get that
As much as I love and adore and cherish that Spider-Man, the only way I want to see more is if they bring back John Semper Jr. He was the show runner on the old cartoon, and the reason behind the excellent storytelling therein. He would be the one to truly bring out the best that a sequel series could offer
oh yeah, after Gambit's death I already knew what was going to happen later as growing up i read x-men as a kid to into my 20s so he becomes Death, hence the card that says Death for those unaware. just wonder who the other 3 horsemen will be. And I also was surprised Onslaught did not happen though it is probably already happening and it'll be a build up in season 2 and then 3 will be Onslaught.
@@dejatwixt9214 yeah, with the way this season ended I could easily see them finally beating Apocalypse and then Onslaught happens before they can even celebrate. Like as soon as one crisis is averted, it’s onto the next one.
@@dementedavenger2784 He is the one who gave him back his adamantium, but he was actually Death in the incarnation of the horsemen before Gambit. I could easily see them making Wolverine War instead, though. Some other notable members are Polaris as Pestilence and Sunfire as Famine. Unless they decide to go with some of the more obscure characters, those all seem to be the most likely choices.
Probably also make Xavier a horseman too. Be pretty OP. Plus they introduce Frost so thats a second psychic. Logan with metal claws once more Gambit- raining down explosions Xavier -A mind reader / telepath wonder who the 4th will be
13:03 BEHOLD OPTIC BLAST!!! and Rogue's Blitz on Bastion was beautiful. "His name was GAMBIT. REMEMBER IT!!!"
I love at the beginning when Magneto said : Heed what happenned when my village used reason, while other used tanks ! It's a direct quote from the first time they face each other at the beginning of the first serie...Magneto used the exact same argument !
Regarding Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch being "off-world", there's a possible explanation. The creators have confirmed that some of the Avengers are currently in space dealing with the Kree-Shi'ar war, so the Maximoffs could be with them
This one 10 episode season did what 7 live action X-Men films couldn’t do, make us truly love ALL of the X-Men while giving us all writing and animation that would have Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Chris Claremont stand and applaud with tears in their eyes! S++ 10/10

@@cloudstrikkee1263just came out that they have made revisions on season 2 😢. Rip xmen 😂 . I think the first half will be good than after like episode 5 there will 100% be huge changes . Might see a HUGE drop in quality.
@@LeonardoDiAficionado Well, I remember people praising Joss Whedon for Avengers 1. But after Age of Ultron came out, the Russo brothers took over and elevated the franchise.
one of my personal favourite details, the Magnito Protocol file lists Magneto's known aliases including Ian [redacted] and Michael [redacted] nods to Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender.
I loved despite Xavier destroying Magneto’s mind that he spent the time rebuilding it and declaring he would never abandon him. For me that showed the merits to Xavier’s ways. It is not perfect and there are flaws to it, but by showing empathy is what saved the day. Cyclops who was having doubts about Xavier’s way chose to embrace it when it became obvious the X-Men weren’t going to physically beat Bastion. It was showing to work. Xavier risking himself to save Magneto touched Magneto so much that he turned around and stopped the Asteroid M from crashing into the Earth. This was a great season. Cyclops got a lot of focus and the series showed wider audiences that he can be more than Fox X-Men movies character. It was a joy to see so many people turn around and actually begin to like Cyclops. Jean was given more to do and her powers were allowed to be more effective than the original 90s series. While not everyone got as much focus and screen time as others I think it was the right choice to focus on key characters this season to keep the story flowing. Trying to give everyone equal focus in the first season probably wouldn’t have worked. It is smarter to give characters who were more in the background this season more focus in the next season. The story was well crafted. This was one of Marvel’s best series. It shows that if Marvel slowed down, refined and revise the writing to its properties, and get people who love the product that they can make great movies and shows again.
23:10 Nathan has always known about his psychic powers. The problem is that he's constantly using them to keep the Techno-Organic Virus at from further spread. I assume, in his younger years, the Virus isn't as strong. Thus, he's able to use his powers more freely. Also, with them talking about favorite moments, it has to be "The name's Gambit. Remember it." In a show full to the brim with fantastic moments, none of them touch it IMO. That whole episode ending had me in complete shock.
What a phenomenal season of Marvel Television! This season, finale was absolutely incredible, and it really had it all! Great writing, jaw-dropping animation, masterful music, amazing voice acting performances, brilliant pacing, respect for the original source material/90s animated series, and lots of fun/really cool Cameos and Easter Eggs for the fans to enjoy! I'm so excited/hyped for Season 2 and will be counting down the days! This finale and the whole season get a 100/10 from me!
RE: Black Panther The one with the grey costume who was speaking to President Kelly was King T'CHAKA. The one in the black costume fighting the Prime Sentinels (and who did not speak a single word) was Prince T'CHALLA. The show likely did it this way to abide by Kevin Feige's decision to not recast the role of T'Challa after Chadwick Boseman's death. The decision to depict T'Chaka as the reigning Wakandan king in "X-Men '97" is actually a change in previous TV continuity. The "Fantastic Four" series from the 1990s established that T'Chaka was already dead and T'Challa was king. Various crossover episodes from this era made it clear that "Fantastic Four," X-Men: TAS," "Spider-Man: TAS," "Iron Man" and "Avengers United They Stand" all share the same continuity.
It's bad enough they killed off T'Challa in the MCU, but banning any direct depiction of him here makes no sense. Nothing can take away from Chadwick's portrayal but he wasn't bigger than a character who's been around for well over half a century
Well, the 90s show might be placed all on the same earth, but the fact, that all 90s shows were produced by different studios, with different ideas makes it difficult to see them as a single universe, cause there are several small and bigger mistakes between these shows. For example: in X-Men Robert Kelly is elected for president of the United States, but in the Fantastic Four series Bill Clinton is the president.
@@ShutEmDownNow I looked into it and Castorena said that according to him since the show was set in the nineties tchalla wouldn’t be old enough to be the black Panther so it’s T’Chaka for now
@@richardjohnson9543 I don't think it's a "ban" so much as it's like "retiring the number." The T'Challa Panther is done, outside of comics. He retired when Chadwick died. You can still follow his adventures in the comic books, though- right now he's heavily involved in the Blood Hunt crossover.
There was a big push online after that Peter and MJ Scene for a kinda Spiderman 98 series. Personally idk cuz one thing the 90's series got SO good at portraying was the infamous Parker Luck that routinely ruins Peter's happy endings and feel like there's no way a season of the hypothesized "Spiderman 98" could resist ending with One More Day happening
For the Morph scene, I definitely believe it was them confessing their feelings. In the original series, Morph had "died" and was resurrected as an agent for Mr. Sinister. Logan was the one out of all the Xmen who fought tooth and nail for Morph's sake until Morph was brought back to the team. Knowing that, it makes so much sense to me that Morph would fall in love with Logan afterward. However, Morph also knows that Logan is in love with Jean and may never actually reciprocate Morph's feelings. So, as a result, Morph feels like they have to hide their feelings most of the time out of fear that sharing those feelings would drive Logan away. And them transforming into Jean at that moment is probably just their way of finally saying those feelings out loud, if only once, in a way that would be more palatable to Logan. It definitely helps that Logan is drifting in and out of consciousness at the time and thus might not remember it. It's that common story of an LGBT person loving a straight person and the pain of knowing that the latter won't ever love them back. I think it's so beautiful and so tragic. As much as I'd love to believe that something could happen between Morph and Logan in the future, I'm not holding my breath, unfortunately. 😔 Still, I'm very excited to see all the things to come! Season 2 can't get here soon enough!
I hope when Morph tells Logan that he gently rebuffs them. Not because of sexuality or identity, but because Logan doesn’t want Morph to change for him and to be their authentic self
An interesting thing is, is that Morph, Logan and Storm are unaccounted for. So what time travel shenanigans would make sense with the two of them? They somehow venture back to the timeline where Logan and Ororo were married. It dives into the relationship stuff with the three of them and they even had a shot of that arc in one of the intros.
What made this show work is they allowed emotional moments to stand on their own. No undercutting sincerity with a quip, as the MCU would do more and more often as it went on.
I mean. Everyone else got hurled through time and space. What time shenanigans do we know that would absolutely make sense for them. If Immortus or whoever sent them back to the timeline where Logan and Storm where married. In would dive into the relationship stuff between the three and could open stuff up for a possible breakup between Forge and Storm, if they want to make her and T‘Challa a thing later on for an AvX arc. Also we saw a shot of that arc in one of the intros in one of the last episodes.
it was sort of wink wink nudge nudge confirmed by demayo that they’re in the future. i think they didn’t want to clutter up the emotional beat of jean and scott seeing young nathan
DeMayo had the absolute BALLS to not only put in the last Peter Parker cameo, but put MJ next to him. He basically said "Yup, I know how the 90s Spider-Man show ended for all of us and I'm going to heal a collective wound for us all: Peter found MJ"
@@sergiogaleano4185 DeMayo himself on twitter when this episode came out said "Yes, Peter Parker found MJ." Direct quote. Google verified and everything.
I am probably not the first to say this, but the fourth person on the boat is Polaris, Aka Lorna Dane Magneto's 3rd living child and Pietro and Wanda's half-sister. She has magnetic powers like her father. As far as I know her only live action depiction was in the short-lived X-men show 'Gifted'. Edit. Wrote this just as I had paused it before you figured it out yourselves. 😅 Extra Edit: Dust isn't a Ninja, she’s just Muslim. 😂
According to the original showrunner, when Morph shapeshifts into Jean, this act can be interpreted as a way for Morph to express their deep feelings for Logan. In this moment, Morph sees Jean as Logan’s lifeline, and by assuming her form, he is not only saving his life but also revealing their genuine emotions.
@21:42 Thank you for not spoiling it Eric. Love the Reel Rejects guys but that got spoiled as soon as the episode ended. I'm quite devastated and excited for what we might be getting.
I really enjoyed this portrayal of Wolverine and Morph's relationship. In the original first season run of X-Men 92', Morph was fully intended to die, and only got revived due to studio meddling. From that, Wolverine was the only one who was genuinely hurt by Morph's loss, and the show spent a lot of time showing how Logan dealt with that grief. Unfortunately, once Morph came back, they sidelined themselves due to their ongoing mental health recovery, so we never got to see how the two characters would have hung out in the classic 90's setting. Morph in the original's first two episodes was seen snickering/cackling to themself in a comedic way, so it can be implied that Morph is a trickster who uses their abilities to play jokes on the other characters; and we see exactly that in his first scene in 97', using the form of the Professor for some really dark humor, considering the circumstances. Transposing that behavior to Wolverine, I think Morph might have helped Logan in the past with his personal traumas. Logan has outlived so many people, and I can imagine that Morph, in an attempt to console their friend, would morph into those from Wolverine's past and tell him the hard truths others don't/can't tell him. Thus, when Morph is presumed dead in the original series, Wolverine would have lost someone who helped center him. We can see both sides to this in 97' when Morph turned into Jean in the club and rubbed the situation in Logan's face, just for him to finally get say what has been on his mind all day. Same with later when Morph offered the chips and beer, reading the situation, and knowing that Logan would respond better to the tough love of a quick fight to get him to let those emotions out. This is most clearly/awkwardly shown in the Goblin Queen episode in the shower scene, where Madelyne, having already read Morph's mind in this situation, exposits some revealing commentary on their personal thoughts. Morph can only ever joke about those things, because if they admit their feelings to themself, it could ruin their friendship with Logan. And once Morph meets up with the rest of the gang, they immediately compare the situation to Hell, even before the Dante's Inferno stuff starts happening, suggesting that Logan finding out is the last thing Morph would ever want to happen. Finally, there's the last line of dialogue for the season, Morph finally admitting their true feelings, but still framing it in a way where they can back if confronted poorly, excusing it as for Logan's benefit more than their own inner desires. Morph is a complex character, and I hope they continue with their plot despite what some might say. I personally loved the subtle story telling this season.
The scene where magneto remembers the past atrocities he’s lived and yells “THEY SHALL BE AVENGED!!!” And just whips a train at a Godzilla sentinel, live in my head rent free still.
So many thought we would get Onslaught...the writer said no, too obvious and gave us something better ! Good work !! I think they will give him to us in a better moment later...Also i can't wait for season 2 and 3 that have been greenlit...i hope they do well Hope Summers !!
Sad the lead writer was fired he had a full 4/5 season plan and I didn't enjoy the episodes that he didn't write that much (the jubulie and supernatural episodes) hopping the show maintains it's quality some how
Poor Orphan Cable! Raised by his parents (Red and Slim) Trained by his Sister (Mother Askani aka Rachel Summers) Poor Orphan Cable, with family all around him.
The original X-men series had numerous Marvel cameos just like this show. Ironman, Spider-Man, dr. Strange, the watchers, Thor, Captain America, Ms. Marvel, etc. all were on the original show.
Yeah I got the vibe from Morph when they changed into Sabertooth to wrestle with Logan. But it was solidified during the shower scene when Sinister said Morph uses jokes to hide what everyone knows. It’s interesting too since it’s the 90s and Morph recently came out as non binary and reverted to their mutant face instead of hiding with their human one. In a sense like a dead name for trans ppl. But they still have trouble admitting romantic feelings during a period where acceptance was a rare thing
Who wasn't allowed to be in the original series because of the failure of the pilot episode, Pryde of the X-Men, resulting in her getting replaced by Jubilee
I was shocked that none of them recognized Kitty but then I thought about it and I think the only consistent place we see Kitty use her codename is the opening credits of X-Men Evolution lol
Absolutely perfect. From Daredevil to Cloak & Dagger, Spidey, Omega, the Reed Richards cameo, so much cool stuff. Can’t wait for Season 2. Morph he was wonderfully used as a cameo Gambit died a GOAT Magneto was right 😅 Apocalypse finna bring back Gambit 🔥
Great reaction series guys! Love all the opinions and nostalgia! I'm Gen X and missed the original show, but I love this iteration/contiuation so much!
Great end to the first season! Another awesome reaction Wave Crew! Can't wait for the next season (however long it takes)! The Children of the Atom has taken over! Beast: "OH DEAR." Next Season is gonna' be fkn 🔥🔥🔥 Three Timelines (like Dark)!
Aaron, Cyclops fires concussive blasts, not lasers, there is no heat to his blasts unless he’s firing against something that causes friction. He converts cosmic radiation he absorbs naturally into force blasts out of his eyes and he’s awesome. When Cable’s arm is absorbed, his time tech was in that arm so when he teleports behind Rogue, that’s Cable’s body slide tech, so we don’t know if he’s dead, Sabastion could of time jumped somewhere. Polaris:Magneto’s other daughter, Dust:was a new mutant then an Xman, she is an Arabic mutant that turns into sand, Shadow Cat: was Kitty Pride’s first name when she first joined the X-Men, she went and got ninja training and adopted the name Shadow Cat. The Phoenix never leaves whoever it inhabits, it always leaves a portion of itself in that person, that’s what Jean manifested and it’s also why Jean never stays dead, that’s portion of power always resurrect her because she is the Phoenix in part, it’s also how her daughter Rachel from another time line manifests the Phoenix force because the entity Phoenix encountered Rachel in the time stream when she traveled back in time from her timeline and thought she was Jean, it realized she wasn’t Jean and left her but also left a portion of itself in Rachel, so she also is the Phoenix. Rachel ends up getting split into two versions, one goes forward in time, one comes to current time, in this episode we met who Rachel becomes, Askani. She helps raise Nathan until Scott and Jean show up (spoilers Stryfe) In the books they don’t tell Nathan who they are out of fear of changing the time line but here they tell Askani and she had to know as soon as she saw them, they are her parents in her timeline. Look at the dome, if you read comics you know who that belongs to, the X-men aren’t there to fight Apocalypse, they are there to stop the owner of the dome with Apocalypse. Someone has been training Apocalypse to take over for them but Apocalypse isn’t much of a follower, good stuff coming there. So much comics goodness in this, two major storylines introduced in this episode.
Since this is a largely a family thing. Aaron recognized Havok from First Class. But he was also in one or two episodes of the original series. Leader of X-Factor, dated Polaris. And is Scott's brother. Same cosmic energy power, but with blasts from his hands/body. Scott and Alex are immune to each other's power.
i love that despite only getting 2 episodes where actually fights they show her use her powers to devistating effect, from when she split a demon from crown to sternum and what she does to bastion is just brutal. that attack actually seemed to get past his damage reduction cuz he didn't fully heal from jubilee's attack.
The show runner said Morph said it because they love him. The actor playing Morph said Morph said it as a way of comforting Logan. So its up for interpretation.
Am I the only one who thought the Goblin Queen episode was pretty damn explicit - in more than one way - about Morph carrying a torch for Logan? What other interpretation do people have of naked-halucination-Logan appearing , Morph cracking a VERY suggestive joke, and hallucination-Logan saying something like: "Always with the jokes. You think we don't know? Everybody knows, Morph." What else would that be about? 😂
I'm glad to see i wasn't the only one moved to tears by this show. The whole crew that worked on this show did such an incredible job on it and I'm hoping it gets many more seasons and keeps the entire crew working on it!
Re: Morph. I believe it’s how Morph feels but using the face of Jean as it’s who they think Logan would want to hear it from and comfort him and to mask their feelings. I believe Beau basically confirmed Morph’s feelings on twitter.
Now we need spiderman 97 😂 like they just gonna show Peter & MJ like it’s nothing . Love this show ugh that whole Bastion fight was sick loved seeing Scott fight him & Rogue is so damn cool & powerful she may have been manipulated into taking Captain marvels powers by her mom but it paid off. Id love to see other heroes animated series in this universe
Y'all should remember Shadowcat! She's the one who can phase through objects. In the movies, she had the great scene of running from Juggernaut as he barrels through walls. As for Dust, I am so excited for her premiere. She's one of the first Muslim characters in Marvel and is able to turn into a cloud of living sand.
saw someone else say that they basically never use kittys code name and that’s pretty true lol. not even for her card in snap so ofc aaron isn’t gonna recognize her haha
Its hard not to notice how fast some things move and that it feels less impactful when theres 40 easter eggs and a dozen giant pivotal moments per episode but it's all so good its hard to knock it. It takes time to breathe when it needs it but isnt afraid to go ridiculous and grandious. Only slight issue is the animation style kinds funks up when its slower pace. Like an old flash animated or archer esque show where its stiff but only because its designed to flourish in the extravagant and emotional scenes where faces and action shine so god damned good. Its so god damned good
