11:33 i know you have mentioned you have seen the Xmen movies, so this is a call back when Cyclops tells Wolverine, "What did you expect? yellow spandexs"
And yep, Cable is a super strong telekinetic, but his body is cons tantly fighting the Virus, which is slowly taking him over, so he's nerfed while he's infected. A common plot is that Mr. Sinister wanted to make a child from Scott and Jean because he knew he could make an ultimate being. In every timeline when they have kids their kids are OP.
And so it should have been in this timeline, since what happened to him as a kid has nothing to do with the technovirus. Another huge mistake of this show.
I always understood Jean being an omega level mutant was why she was coveted, but why was Scott also considered prime mutant specimen for breeding, by Sinister? Wouldn't he want 2 omegas to breed for his experiment?
Yeah, when they started fighting Magneto I was like "Okay, I guess adamantium is nonferrous in this universe?' because of how all in Wolverine went. Then at the end when Magneto rips it out of Wolverine, I was like "Oh, never mind, Magneto was just being nice".
@@johnniequinn3215 It's really not. It's something he could have done at any moment with mimimum effort, and he managed to do it in a second even after being *literally stabbed in the back.* All this time, Magneto had been playing nice with the little pest.
@@happyslapsgiving5421 Respectfully disagree. Even at his worst he didn’t do anything like that because of his own unconcious control. In the scene you will notice his power stopped for a second after being stabbed. It was because of the injury that he focused his energy fully on revenge against Wolverine, not in spite of it.
@@johnniequinn3215 Read the comics, bub. He could have done it at any time. There are plenty of ret-conned reasons that he didn't, but if someone can literally fly to the North Pole and shut down EVERYTHING he would have a hard time pulling metal out of Wolverine's body???
Charles wasn't trying to kill Magneto. He was trying to hijack his mind and use his abilities to turn the power back on earth. Scott stopped him because if he turned it on now, the Prime sentinels would be back in business. Scott did the right thing.
One of the most famous comic panels in X-Men history, X-Men#25, seeing it adapted was a treat, reading X-Men in real time as a teenager in the 90s. Erik shutting off the power was wrong. Countless people, millions at least, would have died.
Forges Power: 1) think "I want to make a thing that does this thing" 2) his power kicks in to find a way to make it 3) he thinks of a design that WILL work. 4) he can then just follow the plan in his head and it WILL work
@@thegreatjedi309 yes, but with a supernatural boost on top of that. He can even create things not based on current tech: hence his Time Gate that sends Cable and Bishop (etc.) back. all the interim tech needed to make the time machine didn't exist either, so his power let him figure all that out at the same time, _automatically._ If he had infinite funding/resources, he could build tech that could bring Earth _beyond_ the Shiar Empire's tech level in short order, but no one wants to work with a mutant in-world who has superpower-nation-level resources... which is part of the commentary.
2:55-3:05 Yes, whilst we all will choose Xavier's path. The issue is Charles is never there to experience the suffering, he was born with a silver spoon. Erik went through a tough time, if he werent a mutant he would have died. In this series, yet again Charles was living healthy whilst Erik saw death again. Hence, his vision of seeing camps. So its very difficult to not lose it like Erik.
"Logan, our most enduring enemy is a guy who can control metal, and you've got swords for hands and a metal skeleton. What's your plan if you have to fight him?" Logan: Imma stab him, bub. Pretty much all I can do.
Cable has very powerful telekinetic abilities, but has to use them constantly to keep his techno-organic virus at bay which limits his potential. In the comics, there is a version of Cable without the virus. His name is Strife and he’s a PROBLEM!
Stryfe is a clone of Cable....when Mother Askani took baby Nathan to the future and cloned him....The clone still has the virus infected in him, Mother Askani was able to reduce the infection but not get rid of it completely.
@@jetlorider oh no kidding? I knew he was a clone but didn’t realize the virus was still there! I need to read up on those storylines with Mother Askani, but thanks for the information my friend!
@@Leekle2ManE would have been badass! I really want to see the brothers of Cyclops, especially Vulcan and his whole storyline with Xavier. Vulcan would wreck everyone
Just a small reminder that this is the first time Storm and Jean have seen each other in years. All those scenes of them being super close best friends in the first couple episodes… that was Madelyne.
@@rachelespiritu4215 yes but Jean had no memories when they found her when Madelyne searched her mind she had just blurs, and when Jean is talking to Madelyne at the end of ep 3 they clearly have the same memories as they state they don't know who is the phoenix who married Scott etc. Jean touches on it again when talking to nightcrawler the first time
Yes, Wolverine can heal. This much damage taxes his abilities. Also, the adamantium is always killing him, dampening his abilities, including adding hundreds of pounds to his 5'3" frame. I am not sure how much they will delve into, so I won't reveal more. Much love.
Wolverine is about to go off. Magneto removing the Adamantium from Logan is actually a good thing. The problem is his healing factor is gonna go into overdrive now, making him a feral beast
Of all things I love about this run, of X-Men, is how they brought the aspect of them being a family. Especially seeing Storm and Jean. You can’t tell me they aren’t sisters. There connection runs deep through the many years of battles and hardships.
Wow sooo much X-men history in this episode. I wish people had the chance to go back and see all of the old stories in their entirety and see all of the homages and easter eggs in this episode. \
Something relevant to Bastion: although in most Marvel media “mutant” is used exclusively to refer to people with the “X gene”, in the comics the term is used to describe anyone who is *born* with their abilities. By which definition, Sebastion “Bastion” Gilberti would (at least in this continuity) indeed be a “Mutant”… Meanwhile, someone like Peter Parker (and most Spider-people) is classed as a “mutate” because they gained their powers later in life. By contrast, the daughter of Peter B. Parker in the “Spider-Verse” films - Mayday Parker - would be classified as a mutant due to being born with her abilities.
in the comics after magneto pulls out logans adamantium we get to see wolverines full mutant abilities on show and because of having no adamantium poisoning his body. we also see the feral wolverine, which is wolverine with no control and no adamantium
Scott stopped professor x because if the damage magneto did is reversed without bastion being dealt with then they effectively empowering bastion who is the greater of two evils and cannot be reasoned with. The plan was always stop bastion then get magneto to reverse the damage. Scott had information professor x didnt
OMG you're going to love the finale! these three last episodes are the best, you do not want it end. Lots of throwbacks and easter eggs! See ya on the finale! Don't forget to watch all the way to the end credits.
I never though they’d go that hard with plot lines. I remember reading the comic where Magneto rips Logan’s adamantium out through his pores. I was shook
I first saw a card of Magneto ripping the adimantium from his body when I was in elementary school, and when I saw where this episode was going, i was so stoked 😂
Fun fact: When Storm first joined the X-Men she hadn't been acclimated to American cultural values. Meaning she didn't know that casual nudity was bad.
Magneto never controlled the Adamantium in Wolverine's bones mostly out of respect. In the Chris Claremont/Jim Lee run, he ripped the adamantium out of Wolverine on Asteroid M. I'm so impressed they pulled that into the animated series.
Wolverine's skeleton is completely coated with adamantium which makes him heavier than what he appears that's why one of his weaknesses is drowning and if he's beheaded by the masamura blade
as shown so far Bastion has the powers of: "Technopathy": the *psychic* ability to communicate (exchange data) with technology with the mind "Technokinesis": the *psychic* ability to _physically manipulate_ technology with the mind and the fact that his powers are indistinguishable from those of a mutant is the point: he and his followers aren't pro-human; if they were, they wouldn't be seeking to gain powers; they want to be privileged, and that's threatened by mutants, and that's a BIG distinction that's also a commentary on extremist groups at large. You see the same flaw mirrored in Magneto's Brotherhood, acting as a commentary on the extreme other end. NOTE: not to be confused with "Technomancy" the *magical* power to control technology. "X-pathy" psychic _communication_ "X-kinesis" psychic _movement_ "X-mancy" Magic
I want to apologize. In one of the other vids I blurted out a spoiler about DP&W. Thought you had surely seen it already. I really enjoy your reactions. Keep ‘em coming!
Yeah, this was also taken right outta the comics. And yes, Magneto could've done it at any point, on a whim. He just didn't want to because of the shear amount of pain it would've caused to Wolverine. Potentially, he didn't know Wolverine's healing could weather having the adamantium coating his bones ripped out of him... but once Wolverine stopped playing nice, Magneto did too.
This is only from memory; however, my recollection is that Wolverine's claws are made out of Adamantium which can only be made liquid (i.e. melted) once and then cannot be changed ever again by any means. In the first X-Men movie, Magneto did bend Wolverine's claws and suspend him midair which, at the time, I thought was against canon; however, I think that, when needed for the plot, Marvel writers are willing to bend (punny) the rules a bit.
11:33 Kevin Feige pretty much gave Beau DeMayo free reign to do anything with X-Men 97. But I'll die on a hill that reference was his personal input to get back at Bryan Singer.
" can Magento not control his claws " i started laughing. Like girl you bout to find out. Magento obviously plays nice with logan . Like erik can knock him out. Cant wait for the next viewing
People are very quick to say Magneto is wrong, Magneto is a villain. He did what had to be done to save mutants from the prime sentinels. If he had not emp'ed, all mutants would have been tortured and enslaved, or become extinct. Meanwhile, Xavier would have just talked about it while it all happened. You mentioned that you don't know the right answer, but it's simply the middle ground between the two. However, there is no middle ground here. The fact that Magneto intentionally did not slaughter all of the X-Men when they came to Asteroid M, and only turned to actually harm someone when Wolverine tried to kill him, shows that he is trying to be reasonable. Also Xavier attempting to take away his free will and agency to force him to reverse the emp shows that Xavier will take extreme measures, but not against the people slaughtering and enslaving his people. I appreciate that this series makes the issues and methods much more complex. Xavier has always been shown as the good person, and Magneto as the villain. Now it's both shades of grey. And Xavier absolutely abandoned them, he even admitted it.
I mean….yeah, Magneto’s actions saved many from the Prime Sentinels, but it also doomed everyone on the planet. They make that clear in this episode that if he doesn’t reverse it, he’ll have ultimately killed anyone that is still on Earth. Magneto has, as far as I’m aware, always seen mutants as superior to the rest of humanity, ironically being like his abusers (and a great example of how abuse can by cyclical). He doesn’t care what happens to non-mutants. And that is a big problem, and it is what makes his action wrong, as he decided killing everything else was worth it. It might be different if he did it and then helped the team go after Bastion, but no. And this is what makes him a villain here, though one whose pain and decisions we can at least understand. So yes, there is no middle ground here, I’d probably be wanting to be with the X-men. Magneto prior to Genosha was probably the closest to a healthy approach. Take action when needed, but also understand when to hold back and talk. He’s always been, at least partially, right about humanity, but the problem is he applies it sweepingly to all non-mutants due to his history. Whereas Charles is more an idealist, in part because of his upbringing. I’d probably agree with people that Scott is the closest to the best between the two.
Also in the comics Magneto ripped the adamantium out of Wolverine's body and with the adamantium being out Wolverine ages and becomes more beastly and he's healing factor is heightened as well as a superhuman senses but he ends up looking more like an animal
Speaking of fixed events and just as some golly-gosh trivia: Both DC and Marvel share a common fixed event in the way of 9/11. I don't know if they've walked it back, so to speak, but both publishers seemed to agree that despite how powerful their super heroes are, nothing could have prevented that event.
The show had 10 episodes to adapt about 15, 18 years of comic book stories. Some more iconic than others, some told and retold in the comics more than once (Genosha in the comics had more than one mutant atrocity occur, though they are all attempting to cover or improve upon material that occured in a storyline called The Mutant Massacre in the late 80s). I really hope we get a second season, for a lot of reasons.
Before he was fired, head writer Beau DeMayo had outlined a five season plan for the show… No idea how much of it will still be used; Marvel still hasn’t been upfront about the circumstances of his firing (to my knowledge), so who knows. We’ll definitely have at least a second season though.
Cable vs. Jean is an interesting fight. Both have the same powers (telepathy and telekinetic) and both are Omega Level Mutants. But Jean is only an Omega Level Telepath, while Cable is an Omega Level Telekinet.
1:10 you're pretty accurate about Bastion's Origin: Liquid Metal (terminator) Nimrod, from the future, "infected" Bastion's father in the past (making him a proto-prime-sentinel in the ep. where they saved young prof. X in the past) and sired Bastion. The irony is that Prime Sentinels are biologically modified: they're not humans anymore, but their hate of Mutants blinds them to their own corruption.
I gave a little cheer when Storm showed up in her Dave Cockrum look. If you ever want to see some wild costume designs, check out his Legion of Super Heroes work.
I've rarely seen the question of what Magneto did weighed against the similar effect of Bastien turming a significant percentage of the world population into unwilling zombie robots.
It is not an absolute point in time. It was sinister controlling cable as we learned in this episode. he was the one pulling him away from that point in time using the virus that has consumed Cables arm.
Gowd I love this show I got to meet Cyclops voice at Galexycon NC a few weeks ago super nice guy 💯 And yep I love Wolverine..But should never be close to The Master of Magnetism 💜 Awesome reaction enjoy the rest 🤘
xavier absolutely did go off and ignore what was happening on earth and leave magneto in charge. prof x has a noble idea but it won't work with the way humans in the setting are
They really did pull that straight out the comics. Honestly I didn't feel even a little sympathy for ol' Wolvie. Like why is the dude with a metal skeleton even on the squad going after the dude who can control metal? What are y'all doing? Who approved this lineup? And Logan spent that entire episode talking mad shit every time Magneto's name even came up. You really got all this smoke for someone who is uniquely equipped to turn specifically you inside out? Sit down somewhere.
Oh yeah, Magneto yanking out all of Wolverine's adamantium happened in the comics. Probably not in this particular situation, though? His regeneration factor goes through the roof, without the constant metal poisoning; problem is, the experience reduced him to a feral murder machine. And I don't know if the professor can do anything about it.
Yes and nope. They squished the Issues of X-Men 1 and 2 and Uncanny X-men 292 when they split into the Blue and Gold teams and confronted Magneto on Asteroid M (or was it Greymalkin at the time?) with the Fatal Attractions story where they confront him again on Asteroid M and he rips out the adamantium.
@@PrinceIMC @Leekle2ManE That story arc, X-Men #1 & 2, I think was covered in the original X-Men animated episodes Sanctuary parts 1 & 2 (S4E3 & S4E4).
so magneto forcing the metal out of his body is a very very big thing if youve read the comics. this might mean season 2 is being set up for something super big.
Most people seem to miss that it is Scott blasting Xavier's chair that turned the tables...they probably ought have shown that (better). Good on you for instantly seeing it & remarking how big it is. It creates disaster...but it was also the right play? if the prime sentinels come back online at that point...game over humans & mutants alike? I think it's safe to assume even the stoic Scott Summers was simply worried about his wife & son above the world there though...or is he doing both like the ur leader he is? I had a problem with these episodes as the team make ups were idiotic, made to fail. Cyclops almost says as much, instead saying he would rather have been on earth (and with his optic blasts being Sinister's Kryptonite, he really should have been!). Wolverine has no place vs Magneto, contrivance aside, but slicing up sentinels, he is the best. I now let it go, as I know they want to follow comic stories/mash them together, but the first watch really pissed me off, as Prof X is NOT that dumb (a genius, in fact) & Cyclops is pretty much the best tactical field leader in marvel comics...so the pair of them (let alone the other X-men are not fools & chumps either) setting up for failure like that was rough.
I think you should prepare yourself, this is more Charles from the comics than the movies. He's kind of,well, an ass. But here the entire situation of who takes over could have been dealt with a call. The people there have the technology. That ending is kind of a famous comic panel that leads Wolverine on a weird journey that I hope they aren't planning on following exactly.
"Did you think Wolverine was going to die?" Naw, I'm familiar with Fatal Attractions, the original comics story they're pulling from. I was an avid X-Men reader up until right around that point, actually. That said, I was not AT ALL a fan of the retcon that story led to. I thought giving Logan bone claws was lazy writing (and frankly, pretty dumb) and still refuse to acknowledge it. I'm sure they're going there with Season 2, so I'll just have to deal.
Pre watch comment. I think everyone sees that when being teleported with nightcrawler. But we as an audience have never experienced a Bamf. So yes indeed a wow moment. Side note i just found you reacted to Scott Pilgrim Vs the World..m guess what im doimg next😁
I won't lie, I know magneto is evil.... but magneto was right ! Thanos was right! These stories are so well written it's really hard to just not sympathize with these characters =)
