The teeth on this show. Not just classic mature interpersonal melodrama but just pure unadulterated tragedy. Honestly cant believe that 10 minutes of the pure pain and tragedy got on Disney+ of all places. X-Men'97 is the goat living up to both source material and the og show.
Yeah it's a shame that they edited out that scene along with other memorable things like magnus telling the child not to be afraid. It's disheartening that this channel is so...how do I put this...sensitive in showing real life situations when it comes to race and hate that comes from hating someone for being different even in comic form. It's easy to speak on things but not showing the consequences of hateful act is a disservice. It's just my opinion though.
Lenore Zann's performance is Emmy-worthy, bit I fear it overshadows the amazing work Alyson Sealey-Smith does as Storm and The Adversary, acting against herself. What amazing chops these actors have
X-Men 97 is hands down the best show of the year, with episode 5 probably being the best single episode of television I have ever seen. Everyone involved is giving once in a generation level work. The animation is stellar and believable. Voice actors are phenomenal. Writing is obviously next level. It's easy to forget, not just that it's fiction, but that it's animated. I can't hold back tears when I hear Rogue say I can't feel you. A friend played the sound bit once just randomly, and I teared up. It's just so good.
What I really like about this show is how it really matured more with it's audience. I'm near the Dad's age so I grew up with the show too, but seeing it evolve and grow like it has been is so phenomenal. It's not just good story-telling, it's got a clear message to convey about loss, love, sacrifice, and healing. It's so profound, I'm so content with it all, and happy people are really liking something that I thought i was alone in, when i was a kid seeing this back in the day. But keep going! There's a lot more story left!
grant morrison's run on new x-men had genosha founded as a mutant nation then 2 comics later wild sentinels killed 16.8 million mutants there. episode 5 is partly adapting that story.
I dont think Jean and Madelyne were having issues cause of Sinister. I believe cause Cable couldnt get to them fast enough he sent a psionic warning to both of them or to Madelyne but cause they're(Jean and Madelyne) connected they both received it. And when Cable finally did arrive because he wasn't able to stay long enough he says "sorry mom"
The most shocking and heartbreaking episode of tv since The Red Wedding in Game Of Thrones for me. When Magneto not only tried to comfort Leech but did so in his native language, knife to the heart. Then they twist the knife with the last line “I can’t feel you”!😭😭😭😭😭 This is officially the best Marvel the show ever made!
I was dumbfounded after episode 5! What a game changer! I liked the show before, but episode 5, let me know they weren't just relying on nostalgia. They came to play.
Episode 5 seemed like it had a very Anime feel to the look and action. I think the multi headed sentinel is called a Wild Sentinel. The drama in the episode is very reminiscent of the comics. 😎👍🏾
This is cool, I'm assuming Mom & Dad watched the OG version and now have the kids watching the continuation 27 yrs later. My kids wouldn't sit and watch this with me unfortunately
Yeah as someone Dad's age, it takes me back to old school Saturday mornings. He did miss, the X-Men dealing with the shiar empire and the space pirates that Scott's dad leads. Xavier was shot and presumed dead but no one knew the Empress grabbed him at the last minute cause of her feelings for him. X-Men doesn't doubt the intelligence of it's viewers because the comic was literally created to reflect the civil rights movement in the sixties. Professor X = MLK Jr Magneto = Malcolm X
Charles didn’t die, you guys didn’t knew because that happened in the series finale of the OG show. He was taken away by the Shi’ar empire to save his life. And the X-men know about it.
@MaJaliv,the guy that some thought was Adam Warlock was a character named-"Vulcan"(aka G. Summers) a member of the" Imperial Guard "which services the Queen of Shiar-Lilandra Neramani& the purple feathered female was her sister "Deathbird",to clearify somethings for you guys on this channel?.
Oh, y'all thought this was gonna be some whimsical throwback the more "innocent" time of the 90s? Yup, Ep. 5 was the turning point of the season for sure. Especially coming off what was a pretty low-stakes episode (the Jubilee side, at least). "Remember It" will definitely go down as one of the most memorable episodes of Marvel TV. The stakes were raised significantly.
I'm enjoying going on this journey with you guys. as a long time x-man fan who didn't get into the original cartoon (I'm old enough to have collected the original GIANT x-men in 77) I didn't think i was going to like this but a buddy of mine and my nephew told me to check it out and I loved it.
the fact that mom there gets it and digs it makes it totally legit. those classic X-Men delved into many topics not just for children but for everyone.
from what I can tell about the times involved, Rogue was at least 21 when drinking with magneto in the flashback, and there has been 5 years at least since then, due to the original series being in 92, so, she's around 26, and Magnus is around 54
Why is the age gap between Rogue and Magneto weird when you have characters like Wolverine (over 200 years old) or Thor (1500 years old!) dating normal aged women? Or over in DC, Wonder Woman (also several centuries old) and Steve Trevor?
@MaJeliv just wanted to tell you guys that Professor X left with that alien woman Lilandra (his girlfriend) in the final episodes of the original series. Also the drama was just as present in the 90’s episodes as this new season. The 90’s show was like a super hero soap opera in a way.
So I get it, the age difference is weird. But Logan being over 100 years older than the women he’s with (Jean in this case) isn’t? How’s that possible? He’s at least twice as old as magnus.
I think a lot of people just have hang ups with age. Underage is a whole nother story obviously, but Rogue fights giant robots. People need to understand she is mature enough (and even was during the flashback.) love/attraction doesn’t care about age past that point, and being a gray fox doesn’t mean you don’t deserve it either (to clarify, I’m talking about those with issues, not your comment😅) It’s a “gray” area…no pun intended (or actually…fully intended) 🙂
@@masamune2984 I think people forget how old Logan is. Hell, twilight has a relationship between a man over 100 and a 17 year old and people don’t even blink. Whatever the reason, a 30 year gap is weird, but it happens. Catherine zeta jones is 25 years younger than Michael Douglas.
Rogue in comic time is 25 years old magneto is 55-60. In life you can vote, drive or risk your life and kill someone in the military but 25 is to young to decide if you're feeling thing for a person.?
@@ghostlee6434 All those other things should be brought up if anything. 25 is when you are reaching true adulthood. By 30 you are an adult for sure. At least physically. Voting is probably fine young but dating adults before you are one. Killing. Hard drugs. Yeah that should all be adult stuff.
When the show runners pitched this show to Kevin Feige THIS was the episode that made him green light the show. They said they wanted an attack on mutants that felt like 9/11.
Not one of you bats an eye when logan constantly tries to get with Jean. Logan fought in world war 2 and magneto was a child .which makes Logan over 100 years old. Captain America and the winter soldier is older than magnus but it never crossed your minds when they get asked out or dates sharon Carter? I guess it depends if you look old or not...
Indeed. Though there is some questioning to be done about exactly when Rogue met Magnus. Just like one would question Jean. High school Jean meeting Wolverine is often a little off.
And in the Marvel universe you have characters like Thor (1500 years old) and Jane Foster, but no one calls that weird. Or when Wolverine dates anyone.
Back in the early 90s. I used to come home from work right out of high school. Get a Bowl of cereal watch with my sisters.. The original series is really good too.. I mean some of the later season weren't that great but still watchable.. But yeah I graduated hs in 92 .. So the audience wasn't just for kids
you know for the space marvel characters we saw to me it reminded me of Marvel ultimate alliance the first game because man I’m feeling so a bit of those characters
@@bensenzo nobody says that Logan’s relationship with any woman is creepy. They’re all much younger than him. So, why is Magneto/Rogue relationship creepy?
My guess you guys never watched the original series. You're really missing out ..charles was never killed.. He had to leave because of the therapy. That was gonna save him. Didn't exist on earth all the x men know. That he's really not dead
Correct me if i wrong but did i see dude with an afro on a commercial .... i swear. If it was u good for you bro if it wasnt...i thought it was you🫵🏽😂🏆🕺
Its a huge request don't pay attention on the reviews of Animal. Watch it once. If you want to enjoy watching Animal , watch it just as a fiction as it has no connection with reality. And the father-son angle of the film will actually hard hit you in your heart , not because of frustration but you will feel relatable. Bring soon the reaction of Animal's Teaser , Trailer as well as the film. ❤
I don't know if over the top violence in anime that is for kids is really the same as the more adult subject matter this show presents, plus, like they pointed out, this is clearly meant for the adults who were kids back when the show aired in the 90s. Not sure if kids will be that into this tbh.
The love triangle with Rogue was unnecessary and forced in x-men 97. If u watch the 90's the animated series there weren't any signs or hints that they used to be a couple. Magneto didn't even cared that Rogue live or die in deadly reuion and Rogue was concerned about Gambit safety in Sanctuary than Magneto funeral. And I'm pretty sure that Gambit and Rogue were already a couple on the show but the writers of X-men 97 retcon it having us think it never happen. Just because it happen in the comics which they clearly got that idea from. Doesn't mean that they should have put it in animation. It should have never happen in the comics anyway people hated that when it first happen. Since people hated it in the comics why would they like it in animation. If they wanted to do a love triangle then they should have done it with Scott, Jean, and Madelyne.
Disagree, it was one of my favorite parts of the series. It showed a caring side of Magneto and upped the emotional stakes. And no, the show clearly implied Gambit and Rogue had a thing though not being an official couple. A lot of people are fans of it in the comics, I hadn't been but I loved it in 97.
I love y’all, it’s gonna have thumbs down this one, only bc I didn’t get to see yall react to really important moments bc of how it was edited, it’s just me being extra but u know… still love y’all tho
