Pietro was out of question, since he'd already appeared in Days Of Future Past. And Fox wasn't planning to do anything with an overpowered character like Wanda. So Marvel got the rights to Wanda. And they had to kill Quicksilver in that movie. Understood?

lets actually take this statement seriously Professor X alive Logan Alive Magneto Alive Tempest Alive Cyclops Alive (along side everyone on the car) Jean Grey would probably turn into the phoenix... Everyone that matters was still alive. I would say that he ruined the franchise, all background characters and some overused characters would have died, cyclops would have more motivation to become a leader figure, they would have revenge as a motivation to take down apocalypse, not just to rescue the Professor (they did not knew he was planning to destroy the world) Apocalypse would have been more memorable and his actions would have consequences... If quick silver came a little late and saved like, 4/5 half burned characters he would think that "i was not fast enough" or something like that, giving him more character depth that "i want daddy" May i say this... It would have been a much better movie, the scene was amazing, but if it did not happened like that, this movie would have been borderline amazing.

The Pheonix is pretty broken like in the comics during the Dark Pheonix story Jean was basically unstoppable so I don't think Quicksilver would really have a chance but yeah I agree Quicksilver is an underrated character in that universe
