X-Men: Children of the Atom - All Taunts & Hyper-X Moves 

It was a good idea to turn it into a Marvel crossover. The only problem is that the Marvel cps2 games, MSH, XvSF, MvSF, MvC1, couldn't have a big roster (like SFA3) so there wasn't enough room to make more brand new additions to the roster. Those games mostly cycled existing characters and added 1-2 new Marvel chars. Then only in MvC2, that ran in a new hardware, there was a room for a big roster, but at that time Capcom was basically done with fgs and wouldn't invest in many brand new 2d sprites. Plus maybe it wasn't really possible because at the same time they were working hard to make brand new sprites for CvS games. Maybe there wasn't 2d talents left for MvC2.

Must've taken the sprite artists tons of time to animate Spiral!

They don't seem... They are. MvC2 sprites are nerfed, probably as condition to fit so many chars in the game. Not to mention it has less stages and less songs. These early Marvel games only have 10-15 chars each game if I remember well.

They put more effort in their work back in the day thats way lots of old games are like this and the gameplay is superb

The game was slower and the characters bigger, they have more detail and frames of animation to accommodate that. Later MvC games would be not only way faster, but the characters in general were smaller. So they cut a lot of frames of animation to fit the faster game, and the characters had less detail because you simply wouldn't be able to see them.

Yea unfortunately Akuma doesn't use his Shun Goku Satsu in this game

Not to mention in Super Turbo if you play as Akuma, he didn’t have the Raging Demon either.

Nah, make it the WHOLE MvC 2d remastered collection that contains X-men COTA up to MvC2.

Yeah X-Men COTA and MSH musical style reminds a lot of SNES MMX games. That influence started slowly disappearing later.

The composer of this and MMX2/X3 were married (or were from the same family, can't be sure which) at the time
