This was great! Awesome work guys, it was thoroughly entertaining all around. Dark Phoenix the movie was horrible but this conversation around it was awesome. I enjoyed the bit about Werewolves of London, the plot starting bit was fantastic. The "In Review" series is easily one of my favorite shows Kinda Funny makes. I do hope we eventually get a DCEU in Review just to give Greg something to watch that he genuinely cares about.

Tim getting the giggles at “nut butter” had me dying among other standout moments in this review. I love you guys! As for the movie itself... I kind of agree with Tim. Which is very rare for me. Lol. But the other movies had things that were enjoyable, whether it was the chemistry of the cast, an effect, a scene, the banter... it was enjoyable to an extent. Meanwhile this movie was just... bland not to mention just a full on mess in terms of continuity, dialogue, story telling, editing and direction. Nick’s argument had me frustrated because it was so contrary to what was said in the review. Dark Phoenix isn’t what’s being in question it’s which movie was better overall, and overall Apocalypse had better moments than Dark Phoenix. There was no redeeming quality in Dark Phoenix.

Quicksilver’s fall scene with the background score and everything was pretty cool

Props to Nick to remembering that entire scene at the end with Dark Phoenix crashing the train and fighting the aliens that Greg and everyone else forgot about.

i have been stuck 20 minutes in for far longer than I should be, but the werewolves of london thing is one of the top five best in review moments, probably number one.

I haven't watched the film (and not planning to), but there's no need at this point. The Plot recap is more entertaining than this film could ever be.

Just watched this move for the first time. It’s great. Maybe when you’ve been watching X-men movies for weeks you get tired but I kind of loved this movie. It’s not prefect at all but it’s good. It had a great score and some really good hype moments.

Want to address a few things. -According to Kinberg he wanted to bring in a cosmic entity. The “Phoenix” we saw in Apocalypse was just psychic energy from Jean’s mutant powers. -This movie was actually going to be a two-parter but Fox Studios had condensed it to a single film in late pre-production. -True. We need a Phoenix before we get a Dark Phoenix. But the film’s title is very misleading because we didn’t get a Dark Phoenix in this movie. Jean never really makes a full turn to the dark side. According to Simon Kinberg this movie was to connect to Days of Future of Past and its ending, which had Jean alive and one of the heroes. This movie is more about how Jean DIDN’T become Dark Phoenix in the new timeline. -The villains are here because Jessica Chastain signed on as Lilandra and they were originally going to be Shi’Ar back when this was a two-parter. But after the studio had condensed into a single film they were cut and Kinberg didn’t really know what to do with Jessica. -Peter Evans was busy filming American Horror Story and that is why he is not in the film much.

I don't know how they like the "X-Women" line Mystique has. It makes absolutely no sense when the most important people of the last mission was Nightcrawler and Quicksilver. It screamed like a reshoot line or a 'woke' line they throw in like CW shows do despite it not making any sense at all.

I actually really like the suits in this one. They're the Grant Morrison New X-Men outfits

i liked dark phoenix, i thought it was solid. also kevin is wrong about jessica jones not being in the mcu, all the netflix shows and agents of shield, cloak and dagger, the runaways, etc are all technically apart of the MCU. many of them in certain ways better than a lot of the movies

Anyway, Dark Phoenix is not a god awful movie like Origins, it's just a series of missed opportunities. It tackles mental illness, and should've been a smaller film, but the blockbuster elements hurt it.

I can't get over how you guys hated Apocalypse so much. What surprises me more is that X2 isn't near the top of the list. It is what defined comic book movies for the MCU(that and Spider Man 2 - Tobey).

It’s wild that they gave Professor X so much shit in this movie like he wasn’t sending out a bunch of mostly almost 30 somethings who weren’t aware of what they signed up for. He handled Jean poorly but like everybody else was grown 😂 if they didn’t like it they just could’ve left. Mystique was one bullet away from wiping out EVERY human and she didn’t get this much shit.

This was more entertaining than the fucking movie.

I'm gonna be honest, this made me want to watch the movie because the plot seriously can't be as incoherent as the plot Greg laid out, can it be?

Movie was fucking awesome lmao I’m glad it didn’t force moments of comedy just for the sake of one liners. And I loved the action scenes , super cool. I’m well aware this movie did not sit well with pretty much everyone, lol but I had a blast watching it.

I feel like to sum up the entirity of the Fox X-Men franchise is them just using the name of characters without the weight and legacy of those characters. The prime example being Psylocke from the last movie, a great awesome character in the comics in the movie she is a throw away player that has barely any presence. Every single movie in the X-Men franchise is just them using a character name and maybe a slight hint of their powers just because they know fans will recongize said character. Remember Emma Frost from First Class....A HUGE character in the comics complete forgettable in the movie. Nick said it best at the beginning the Dark Phoneix saga is something that should be built up over several movies not thrown together in one but they wanted to use the Dark Phoneix name because they know fans would recongize it.

The original X-Men being ranked lower than Last Stand is horrible.

Finally, I saw this movie this weekend. This movie was just bad. The fight scenes were not done right. Those zombie villains or whatever were weird. Too me this movie falls dead last. Origins had something that we're better than this.

It's not biased to say this is the worst X-Men movie just because you guys don't think so. Many people agree --- _X-Men: Dark Pheonix_ is the worst of the series. _X-Men Origins: Wolverine_ is decent and the trash that is _X-Men: Apocalypse_ in decent in comparison.

Why did this start with how good or bad the movie was but Far From Home didn't? The inconsistency

I'm not going to blame any of the actors or actresses for "mailing it in." These movies are trash and didn't deserve the high level acting. Bad storylines, bad direction, and bad writing. And I'm sick of these studios leaning on the Phoenix story. It's, arguably, the worst story in the comics for X-Men... Find better stories or make up something unique to the world. Otherwise, this will continue to happen. I'm ready for Kevin Fiege and some other talented directors to make these movies watchable. That's the silver lining I'm allowing myself to see. Otherwise, this franchise has been more disappointment than success. It is what it is.

I'm with Tim on this, definitely the worst movie. All of the others, I could watch again and be able to get through it. This movie was utter garbage. Nothing happened that was really exciting. Jessica Chastain, bless her, was a pointless addition to this film. At least this franchise is dead now.
