I was watching Xmen classic from 2000 and I remember this helmet. I actually found Jose from IronHead Studios who has made a ton helmets and more for on screen films. As a maker its interesting to get in the mind of others and see some of the obstacles they faced. It blew my mind when I realized 3d printing is used in Hollywood as well.
This is a time-lapse of my experience 3d printing Magneto helmet from X-men 1 I used a Gloss black coat after realizing the original Red I used wasn't dark enough with just the primer. since I printed the dome of the helmet upside down I started with 60 grit and small clippers to remove any layer lines. from there I used bond as well as wet and dry sand paper to even everything out. I also added foam on the interior of the helmet for a better fit. Enjoy this Time-lapse how to 3d printed build.
