You are a legend. I’m a young dreaming-to-be pilot and right now I’m learning more and more every day about flying and this video is gonna help so much. Next I’m on to your video about cold and dark starts.
Thank you. This was amazing! I have felt to overwhelmed to even consider trying to get my head around this, and yet in one evening I learned to use Navigraph and SimBrief to plan flights and how to program and use the FMC and AP! Brilliant. You are a legend!
You know you've done a good job when you did better than the actual manual put out by x-plane. So many things they missed. You hit everything. Very well done and put together. A video to study. I thought the autopilot was broke and janky until I watched this and realized it was my lack of understanding. The n1 calculations are a big deal, and what most people miss or gloss over.
Absolutely the best video I have seen to fly the Zibo 737-800! Clear explanations and I now understand how to do an approach using the FMS. Thanks for the excellent video!
How good is this Tutorial ....I am watching this video and following on my sim at the same time. I am also grabbing the tutorial video screen trying to look around the cockpit ....duhhh.... Great tut help a lot... many thanks, and keep up the good work
Thanks! Nice, clear explanation. I've never used an FMC in real life, so it is actually kind of confusing. The GA avionics like the G1000 seem more intuitive to me, but the more I see, the more it does make sense.
Finally got a 737 up and doing your test route from Vancouver to Seattle right now. For some reason my VNAV isn't working, maybe I didn't put in as detailed a flight plan as I meant to, but right now the flight is going fine. Wanted to thank you for all your help and guidance. I had some difficulty steering the 737 to the runway for takeoff, it's very hard to steer compared to the bizjets. Took some doing. But the takeoff went great, LNAV is working thus far. No warnings or weird stuff so far.
This is what I needed, I've learnt a great deal from this. The zero Alt for example. I needed to understand the AP and FMC links too. Good laid back presentation, oddly relaxing. Thanks.
Micah a vast improvement to the video done about a year ago. There are still some procedures that are not by the Boeing book. To verify some correct procedures, watch some Flightdeck2Sim videos he is a real world 737 pilot and a test pilot for Zibo. You can also watch to training videos by Skymatix who has also put out a basic and advanced check list for the Zibo that can be downloaded. He is in communication with Twkster daily from the Zibo team. A good video to help start off with.
This wasn't designed to be an in-depth start to finish checklist, by the book tutorial. This was designed to get new simmers up into the cockpit and flying the 737 with autopilot. I am well aware there are a lot more steps to REALLY fly the aircraft! 😂
I totally agree with first learning how to fly departures and approaches by hand-flying!!! Paramount that pilots understand characteristics of the airplane before hands-off. It is when computers and automation fail is when so man pilots become overwhelmed to manage hand-flying their plane!
Perfect tutorial, done the first rnav flight at one go..! Just had to hit the ALT INTV because I accidently put lower altitude than the top of climb. Still need a lot of practice on landing.
@@MicahMesser Thanks Micha, yes, I've been utilising that feature. still feeling too short to prepare everythung in the given distance though, more practice!
when you are at 47:38 in the video you say you are setting 5 flaps at 139 but you don't zoom in so I can't tell what you are doing. I can't tell if you are doing something on the keyboard or physically adjusting the flaps and when you say set it looks like you click something but again I can't tell cause you never zoom in. I'm sure you can see the knobs clearly in you're cockpit but not so much in the video. Great video, just wish you would zoom in more and maybe use a larger mouse pointer
Don't you just add the ILS approach into the FMS for arrival (STARS), and the transition, etc., and let the FMS bring you into the final approach, and then just arm an ILS APR as usual?
Hi and thank you for the tutorials, however, I am still having difficulties in completing my first flight with the autopilot. Although, I believe that I have properly configured the FMC there are still aspect that seem to be missing. AS for the FMC my V1, VR and V2 are quite lower than yours and I have noticed that with ZIBO the tablet displays lower fuel than simbrief Bock Fuel and the PAX also is lower. I have tried to add fuel but given that I initially set up my flight to start with engines the fuel truck cannot refuel until such time as I close down my engines. Therefore my speeds are as follows 112, 113 and 129. Nevertheless I have been able to push engines to 40% before take off and applying the N1 button as per video. but once above 1000 feet when I apply the VNAV and ultimately LNAV and CMD. Either I start to loose speed and crash or the letter A start flashing in the IAS/MACH and I loose VNAV. To conclude not the best times on my end and after reviewing this video multiple times and ultimately having the same outcome Einstein's theory of insanity is starting to kick in (Repeating the same thing over and over in the hopes of a different result) . Well I must confess that my drinking has sky rocketed lol lol lol lol lol lol. Would appreciate any help you can provide in making my flight experience less huuummm frustrating :) Cheers
Hey man, this is by far the best video i've seen on this topic. Keep up the content. I got one little question. Do you have any idea why theres no little pink diamonds for me?
Hi and thank you for making such great and helpful videos. I have a problem using the ZIBO mod : the ATIS voice and message doesnt stop coming back. Even if I change comm frequency or even shut down the sound. Do you have any idea ? Thank you
Hello, I love your videos, and I have managed to fly to a few places with them but I'm struggling to use Simbrief as my xp11 nav data is out of date. I don't want to pay for an annual subscription to Navigraph, so how do you buy only one nav data (1903)? Thank you! I also would just like to thank you for your amazing, easy to understand tutorials, they have really helped me enjoy flying in the sim :)
Great video, very informative. Can one add altitude & speed restrictions at certain way points along route that autopilot will adjust speeds & altitude with no manual inputs after its already in FMC correctly after takeoff? Or do you still need to keep adjusting Altitude knob along entire route at each way point for Boeing aircraft's etc.
If you place restrictions and the aircraft is on VNAV and LNAV, it will adjust. Just keep in mind, that the altitude knob, if going up, will have to be higher than the desired altitude. If going down, it will have to be lower.
On the main display. Look to the lower left corner of the screen and you can see them moving. Note: You don't have to manually selected your V1, VR, and V2 speeds. But, VREF is manually entered in most cases.
Hi. Great video, but I'm confused at exactly what you are doing at the 36.00 mark. You make a change to the V1 or VR? Is that right? If so, why? I'm very new to this :-)
Isn't it crucial to also set the overhead panel Cruise Altitude and landing alt. etc. for the pressurization system? I mean, should these be set before taxi? I didn't the one time I tried the Zibo, and got a pressurization cabin warning, although I did set these and try to fix it, and it didn't fix it. But I also may not have filled in all info in the FMC thoroughly, I admit.
@@anthonybruce3482 I'm not even simming anymore because Microsoft 2020 wasn't working at all for me, and I gave up on XPlane11 too since it was not great. Anyway, I found later you have to set the overhead pressurization etc. and fill in everything in the FMC before even taxing out to the runway, that's crucial or you'll have problems right away in a flight on the Zibo 737 or many other planes.
Hi... nice tutorial. You said about putting 0 on altitude before TOD but also the cruise altitude must be set before starting the AP? Or de FMC stops at the inserted in FL one? And if I put higher...does the FMC limit it to the cruising altitude programmed in it? Thanks.
Before you activate the autopilot, you should have your cruising altitude set in the FMC and on the MCP. The MCP is like a limiter, it will not allow your aircraft to continue to climb or descend if the MCP altitude is below or above respectively. On descent, you want to set your MCP Altitude to the IAF (initial approach fix) on the approach, if there is no ATC. If there is ATC, they will either give you a descend to XXXX altitude OR descend via the ABCD arrival. If it is descend via the arrival, you will set the MCP altitude to the IAF.
BlindAsABat_ same thing happening to me. I fully programmed the fmc and I have speeds and alts. The flight path shows up on the radar and on the flight director but I still cannot engage cmd. Not sure what’s up with this.
Hi - I used Sim Brief to get a flight plan from Toronto Pearson (CYYZ) to Sault Ste Marie (CYAM) and got the following route; CYYZ/15L DCT NUGOP DCT 4519N08153W CYAM/22. HOW do you program in 4519N08153W (which I am assuming is a set of lat and long)?
If you go off course and by the time you recover you are already past ROESH, how would you make a later waypoint in the flight plan the “next” waypoint for the aircraft to navigate to so that you don’t have to backtrack? In ForeFlight and Garmin Avionics, there is an activate leg function where you can pick any leg and make it the active leg and then just take up an intercept heading.
Also, in the Zibo, can you set the post-cruise master alt. for landing minimums, or IAF approach fix alt., or does it absolutely have to be 0000 for the TOD to work right? (You explained it: after you turn AP off before threshold, then you set missed-approach alt. for a go-around, gotcha)
Move your camera inside the cockpit to where you want it, press control and a num pad key (0-9) at the same time to save the location. Pressing the num pad button will go to that saved location. Hope this helps :)
22:19 turning knob not do anything. you also need tell it. do it now. change heading not do anything before yell do it now. same goes speed. you need tell do it now. you can dial knobs before do it. lol you dont have altitude hold so fmc descent. unless safety reason. if you not know it you drop like rock when fuel end lol
everytime i try to enable CMD A it doesnt work and A/P P/RST starts flashing. and also, after a few thousand feet a warning that says cabin altitude pops up and my screen goes dim. can someone help me?
HI I am a Learner on x plane 11 so I am asking you not, telling you. should you not have the stab trim set up in take off. I always have trouble with this setting the figures on the wheel. another question how do you have all this scenery in x plane. I am having to buy it. and even then I get messages files such and such missing. thanks for the fligh it was great. chas uk
Hi Micah, great videos. When I start to program the FMC, pressing Acars & then Atis Req, I then enter the airport press send and wait a couple of seconds, after this I press Atis but I get a message 'no metar data'. Have I done something wrong? Any ideas please?
Hmm, did you disable N1 between cuts (before 21:08)? I'm flying the same route with your flight plan, and copying your actions. A while after reaching 19000 ft (actually it levelled off at 18600, perhaps because I set altitude 0 before the climb finished?) I got a warning because I'm now at 355 knots. I disable N1, but then the plane did a rollercoaster maneuver twice before levelling off at 18160 ft and 279 knots.
I noticed that the auto throttle switches are in UP positions correctly but the A/T push knob isn't lit up. Do you not need to push that on? what does that button do anyways?
So I really need you help. I’m trying to get my zibo mod to work but every time it loads it in there is an insane amount of lag and then my games crashes. I downloaded the exact way you did it and turned down all of my graphics and rendering. I really want to use it but it just lags out all the time. Do you think you know what the problem is?
I have this strange issue... While descending, I change the speed in the FMC in legs, but the aircraft won't follow it. It only follows the one that is written in the descend category and I wonder why
Hello Micah. Thank you for your video. Is it possible to set route to the alternate destination while on the ground? Can't find this information on the internet. I mean both in zibo and in real life. Will appreciate if somebody else answers too.
Can anyone help? I have been trying to get zibo 737x to work in xplane11 for months and different problems and bugs keep coming up making xplane impossible to use. I cannot afford £80 for a payware aircraft and zibo seems to be the only solution. At the start of playing plane 11 (mid 2019) it worked perfectly but I didn’t no how to fly I nearly had the hang of the zibo 737 when bugs came up making it unusable. I have reinstalled several times on steam and even reset windows 10 but no luck. I am running out of options!
Thanks for this video and all yr additional tips, very helpful. I know there are many other videos but this one was clear and tailored to what I needed. Thanks again, appreciated.-
Try letting go of the controls completely first then pressing it. Also, I recommend you check out my latest 737 tutorial series here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZyVTVwLE30E.html
OK so just followed step by step again. Everything going well, Turned altitude to 0 before cruising Alt as you say. But now my aircraft won't begin descending according to fmc leg page. All points are filled correctly but it's staying at cruise altitude
Thanks for flying from my city CYVR I will never set altitude settings to 0 simply what you will do if vnav stop working, in my opinion you should set altitude to IF point
You can do that. Setting it to the IF point works for most situations. I have run across a few times where the aircraft glitched out and didn't descend beyond it, which is why I set it to 0.
