As a radiologist I can tell you that the degree of scoliosis present of the thoracic spine did not result in any significant morbidity. Also the leg length discrepancy appears to be due to the presence of tilting of the pelvis, The conclusions made about the radiographic findings are a bit absurd.

Thank you for pointing that out. I was thinking the same thing. My mother and grandmother had scoliosis. It didn't shorten their lives at all. It is unsettling that those in the medical field, while working to unravel the mysteries of ancient people, are so wrong. Scarier is that there is no medical professional above, to correct them. As a result, if not corrected, humankind we will have a skewed view of our ancient past.

@@puffdaddyfpv7046 No one in the room wearing lead. But, they probably do not shoot many x-rays per year. The guy holding the x-ray tube may have gotten the largest exposure.

@@margo3367 My conclusions are the skeletal findings seen radiographically were noncontributory to the overall health of this person and are minimal in degree.

I have noticed that the Egyptian's cared very deeply about their family members enough to preserve their bodies after death to prepare them for their after life. That's unconditional love. This woman was beautifully wrapped and painted. It took time to do that and a lot of recourses.

I've been to museums with Egyptian and South American mummies, and I must admit that I felt uncomfortable. Displaying the bodies as they do feels very disrespectful. On the other hand, ancient Egyptians believed that as long as their name was spoken, they were not truly dead, so displaying artifacts, such as coffins, gives them an immortality that would please them.

Because her condition was inconsistent with that of other mummies who were similarly excavated and transported. Yes, things can happen to mummies as the earth changes, but how the woman was found reflects health issues modern medicine has detailed information on.

I have to wonder about the credibility of these archeologists. Surely they didn't believe the bump in the mid-section could have been a baby?! Part of the mummification process includes removing all organic material from the body which would have included a fetus. I'm certainly no expert but how could they have been so wrong about that?
@giancolabird
@giancolabird 2 года назад
I just read anout a mummy with her baby still inside her. They said it was the only pregnant mummy they ever found. They had several ideas, but essentially did not know why the baby was still inside her.
@codename495

They removed specific organs that were believed to be important for health in the afterlife. Those were preserved separately. Other organs were left as they were seen almost as vestigial.
@giancolabird
@giancolabird 2 года назад
They reported in the news that a mummy, baby inside, was discovered. They said the embalming process 'pickled' the baby and xrays did not pick it up. They believe other babies were also in mummys but undetected because they used the wrong tool when looking as Xrays do not work

I don't think you mean all organic material, because literally everything your body is made from is organic material, including your skin and bones. I've yet to see a skinless, boneless mummy.

@tmoney2403 2 года назад
@@laura121684 Yes, that is correct I misspoke. What I meant to imply was that during mummifications they general need to remove the internal organs in a process known as desiccation to preserve the body for the afterlife.

From what I've read, it falls under one of two categories. The weathier could afford a coffin with a face carved into it made to be what the deceased would look like in an idealized way. They wanted it to look more idealized and not realistic, because in their religion, this is the face that their loved one would have for all of eternity in the afterlife. And the second situation where coffins were more mass-produced for those who were less well-off, and they would just customize it with the name of the deceased and whatnot, but the same beliefs apply about the afterlife. Everyone wanted to be idealized, beautiful people in the afterlife.

I understand your concerns AllieBeee, but the Egyptians valued the preservation of their names beyond everything else. If this woman could speak, she would beg you to open her sarcophagus and learn and say her name aloud. In this way her spirit could live again. Otherwise, she is lost forever. She would then ask the gods to curse and torment you for your (unintentionally) letting her name disappear, and her spirit perish.
