There are multiple possibilities 1. Those are paid bystanders 2. The marker has the ability to save the letters and send via Bluetooth,WiFi ( it does not seem like it since it is smaller than expected) 3. He has a big ass camera with a good zoom lens far away that can read it ( but in some of these cases I don't think that is possible because of angles) 4. he did not show the first part where they write the answer on the paper and he finds a reason for them to write it again, while he takes the first paper switches it and burns it to show he will not see it. 5 the paper and marker can make the text appear on the other end if you have a special camera or glasses
Saw this trick before. They didn't show the part where he says there's a mistake and they need to rewrite their answers. At this juncture, he palms the first paper and reads it while their writing the 2nd time. So he knows what they wrote. Had they written 2 different things, the trick is screwed.

I guess the reason behind this might be , when he says that he's gonna guess the color of undergarment then other person starts to think of the color and he uses some kind of mind reading and gets the answer
