I think it's safe to call this a "concept album". With the show being its center piece. It's actually a tried-and-true way of getting music out. I'd even argue that it's the best way. I love when songs unveil a story. And I can name a bunch of concept albums that were pretty successful. Like Pink Floyd's "The Wall", Marilyn Manson's "Mechanical Animals" and NIN's "Year Zero". Come to think of it, the Year Zero alternative universe lines up with X-RL7's plot. 🤔They're not that far apart: both take place in very likely future and both touch on subjects of spirituality and something greater than man. If you're not familiar with that story - highly recommend digging into it. It would be a great source for inspiration. Trent Reznor outdone himself that time, it's my favorite album of all time.
This is fucking badass (sweet ass vocal effects btw). Love how it's not too complex musically with lyrical truth & a gnarly, perfectly thick, 3am-in-Amsterdam-dancin mytitsoff-sounding, sweet-ass synth every song. Although...i rly wish y'all's breakdowns were at least 2x longer ..all of em' make me wanna wrestle a silverback gorilla wearing a banana suit 👂🕺 🙅
