So I believe the reason the lock feature locks the priming lever and not the actual trigger is to ensure that you can't accidentally lock it while it's primed and leave it primed which will hurt it's longevity over time, so it does make some sense for this blaster and it's unique out-of-the-box lock feature
The _very_ first thing I did with mine (which I bought for the 1887 factor, of course) was to dismantle the whole thing and remobve every piece of the lock system.
i love how this guy gives a honest opinion and not just making a short vid that most people make and has not much info but this guy makes long vid full of info but i think he is the best.
Thank you very much! That was the goal, I want to give a full overview of the blaster. I tried to make short videos in the past but I just don’t feel like I can properly cover the product in a short time
So basically one would need to ensure proper compression all the way from the air cylinder outlet to the muzzle, and install some accuracy-improving piece, e.g. a SCAR or a BCAR. That could entail having to treat the 'barrel' as the decorative shroud it is, and to install inside it, on a movable carriage, a proper size alu barrel with a BCAR at the muzzle end, an oring seal at the breach end, and a linkage that would, prior to each shot, pull that barrel back so the alu barrel's breach end firmly butts up against the dart cylinder's front face, in line with the currently hot dart compartment. Sorta like a mix of Sillybutt SLAB and Colonel Wasp's 76 AEB
@@rocketcoffinstudios The way I see it, all '8+' blasters (especially those of the shell-ejecting variety, like ULD pump shotguns and over-under break actions - the ones that look like actual firearms) have at least one thing in common - they appear to have been deliberately spec'd down by taking performance components away, instead of adding components like air flow restrictors. Like, in the compressed air path of such a blaster, the only part that has an oring and somewhat seals would be the plunger. Everything else is plastic-on-plastic, with no seals. And we are talking gaps instead of tolerances - like, something is missing that should have been there. I think it's a design feature, not a bug - to both bring the price down and ensure safety of children and furniture indoors. If we take this stance, all we have to do to spec up an '8+' blaster is to figure out what's missing that should have been there (but was deliberately thrown away by the team of corporate lawyer and accountant), like orings, inner barrels, properly fitting chambers etc, and adding that all back. And after that it'll be finding out what's the meatiest mainspring that kind of blaster can take:)
@@PavelBarbanegra you are exactly right! I have almost wondered on the realistic looking blasters if it’s in part to discourage their use in games and make them just backyard plinkers. There’s no reason they should have the performance they do especially as the realistic looking ones are typically more expensive.
I have a couple of those realistic shotty blasters - a pump action and an over-under break action. Got'em like a week ago. Have been plotting mods non-stop:) Really, they scream for oring seals and any sort of properly sized barrel that would fit inside the decorative shroud, so the air chamber seals against the shell, and the shell seals against the inner barrel, and the blaster maintains compression all the way to the muzzle. Currently waiting for the pvc and alu tubing to arrive. Will see what fits. Don't think I'd even need to design/order any 3d printed components, really. Well, other than a BCAR. A double BCAR for the over-under would be very nice. With a rail to mount adjustable front iron sights:) It could replace the over-under's original orange double barrel cap that snaps onto the decorative 'barrels'' muzzle ends (it's actually needed to prevent the shell from splitiing at the seams there, so two birds with one stone, I guess). It'd be properly useful, sorta like an actual shotty choke set. A mag extension for the pump action's original underbarrel mag would also be doable, esp if one switched to using drum springs from a retractable keychain for the mag follower.
Just picked mine up a couple days ago, nice fun blaster, and, since I'm in canada, its $25 CAD, and i dont mind the locking gimmick, and if you dont want it, just remove the piece of plastic that locks the prime, and, i think this thing, if you beef up the plastic inside, it could probably take a nice upgrade, i just lightly modified mine, removing dart posts and air restrictor, and its a nice little pop, and, cutting away a bit of the shell, you can rear load it, probably my favorite x shot blaster i own
Awesome review! And I was Really frustrated when the Zurutoys code link page was down. I tried to go by feeling, but no luck. Rolled through hundreds, one by one. My code was not the 238 like it was on other reviewers' blasters. I tried your code and that was it. I was ready to take it back to store and ask for a refund. But it looks so cool so I guess this one's a keeper.
I think the reason the half length darts were not functioning well is because the dart posts were probably not removed, Walcom removed the posts and fired half length darts very well, I still have posts in mine and they don’t fire half darts well,
X-shot is sorta hit and miss on the performance side. Some blasters are awesome, like the vigilante (even with the barrel wobble), xcess or even hawk eye. On the other hand we got things like max attack (jams+dart compatibility) and the last stand blaster (skipping drum). They all look cool tough. As for the lock blaster, i most likely have to get one as my boys saw it on page and both think its cool. SO for indoors nerf war with your kids, it will do just fine :)
@@rocketcoffinstudios So i had to bite the bullet and get the lock blaster. Conlusions, gimmicky, yes, cool, yes, feels solid enough to survive my boys atleast :)
That's what I understood, but I'm guessing this fella is just far too cool to read the instructions. 😁 Which explains why he couldn't unlock it at first. Gotta get your priorities right... it's so much more important practice spinning the blaster... then dress up and speak with an exaggerated and excessively slow drawl. 😂
Ever xshot is 8+ except the longshot. Their other blasters fire 10-15fps higher than Nerf’s standard 70FPS. Don’t know why they would make this one so under powered.
It's not designed to fire half darts out of the box, so it's not going to launch them properly without modification. Like a great many other blasters. Perhaps reading the box and the instructions would have helped with your expectations, unlocking and using it? It's a kids toy, adults and hobbyists make up a tiny percentage of the foam blaster market. Rival, Hyper and Gelfire are aimed at adults. But hey, it's more important to practice spinning the blaster and dress up than give a fair review. 😂
