Remember the functions have to be enabled by the manufacturer before a scan tool can command them. If I connect to my 06 Highlander there is very little it can command. On my '17 Tacoma it does a multitude of commands.
Looks like a fantastic tool overall, I really like the way it updates quickly with minimum intrusion. However spelling mistakes and other such features could possibly speak to reliability/durability of this tool. Very tempting, but i think I might stick with more autel units.
Just to let everybody know This scanner will not work unless you keep it updated so when the free updates run out it looks like it will just become an expensive paperweight unless you pay
@@jayshomebrew read you could still use it, i had ordered 1 a month ago but pacakage was damaged said amazon been almost a month still waiting for my refund. was gonna have sister bring it to mexico for me guess i missed out now really wanted to step up from my normal scanner good thing i didnt sell it 😆
Xtool says it will work even if you don't pay, you just don't get more updates. Are they lying or what ? Did it happen to you specifically or you read somewhere ?
The D8 has MUCH better actuation testing and even has a "special functions" button under each sub-section, that this one doesn't have at all. For example, if you go under that same "windows" test that you showed/ rolling it up and down. On the D8, it will have extra options there, such as-- the one touch that rolls your window all the way down. You can turn that on and off.. Or your seatbelt buzzer-- you can turn that off. Or your doors auto locking as your drive off, that can be turned off also. There are little details or "options" like that under every little sub-system on the D8. and it has a 'live data and actuation test" button under every sub-system also. The D8 really is the one to get.. But also, they have an "A30M" -- which is basically this D7, but without a tablet. You have to use it through and app on your phone-- but it's only $200. and the software looks exactly like this D7/ it's just slightly more bare bones. But still has the live data and actuation tests on most things.
Hi whichever model is the installation process a straight install using a disc provided ? Also, will the D7 relearn multi mode transmissions on makes like Toyota Aygo and Yaris models ? Thanks.
Those features were added to the D7 earlier this summer (June 2022) as part of a major software update. Watch ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zKrC1av9T28.html
I have this one, useless to reset maintenance light for the 2014 V6 XLE. Does not reset anything automatically, all it does was given confusing wrong instructions for you physically to reset it. Finally reset from a RU-vid instruction video without any tools. Further for older cars need to enter VIN numbers every time. Should have it in memory once its entered, but NO. Anyway I'm learning and for the money I think the D7 is pretty good, much more than I ever needed. Its a steep learning curve like learning a machine program language or AutoCad.
For Ecotec Z14XEP it shows only THREE instead of four cylinders so the fact it fired #1 (plugs inserted into the removed and inverted coil block) but not 2 - 3 makes it useless.
So I just got the D7 xtool. Can the car store codes from previous faults that were later fixed? I'm seeing faults using this scanner and I don't know if they are current or if they should be cleared kind of confused
Here's what else you should know. I have a A30M, but wanted to add some key programming functionality. I was torn between the D7/D8 or possibly the x100 pad/2 Key Programmer. Xtool just updated the D7 version adding more functionality getting it close to the D8 functionality so, I decided to pull the trigger for the D7. I'm frugal and didn't want to pay $470 for the tool and I did a lot of comparisons of features before deciding. Not only did I use the discount code -8% you provided below but I used a coupon from the $18 capitol one links, along with the deal time sale @$375 they are having, to bring the cost down to $326. This pays for the 4 year update and the tax.
I just bought one from AMZ that has a 20% off and it came to right around the same price for me. I haven't received it yet but am looking forward to it paying for itself reasonably soon. A shop will charge $150-200 just to hook one up, so a couple of those and it's a free tool, basically.
Hi I purchased one of these to program a spare key on my Peugeot partner.took 5 mins.on issue iv got is when iv got it plugged in to obd and select scan it just say unstable signal .any ideas.surely it only needs WiFi for updates thanks
This is the rubbish tool.I could not reset faults in VW B6 estate from 2009.CAN NOT RESET EVEN SIMPLE CODES LIKE 0044 POWER STEERINF,OO53 PARKING BRAKE.Totaly usles.I upgrateded fully but still can not cleared the fault codes.
I’m looking forward to buy one for may workshop but I don’t know which one to buy Between Xtool x100pad plus, xtool d7 and xtool d8 which one should I choose In all I need the one that can reprogram abs module for ford cars
So why did they make it so you have to add the OBD II adapter to the end of the cable? Why not just make the cable configured on the end with the OBD II connector? Even the cheaper scan tools have one cable, no adapter. One end connects to the tool, the other end connects to the OBD II port.
I have a D7 and D8. (Recently received). I find that neither does much with my early Dodge minivans (up to 2006). Either Dodge has locked all the functionality or XToool is geared more toward foreign vehicles. Really disappointed because I had high expectations. With these vehicles it's little more than an OBD2 scanner.
Are you sure you have it subscribed to get the latest updates, and are you sure that you know how to use the scan tool correctly because I've watched this tool being used at a greater level of functionality than what you described as well as bidirectional control such as programming keys and using commands as an automotive technician I can honestly tell you that if you don't have updates every week your scan tool won't work correctly and there are versions of this tool that are not authentic and absolutely don't work and there are versions of this scan tool that are sold abroad that won't work correctly in the US if your scan tool isn't working correctly and it's getting updates and under warranty send it in to be repaired or replaced and let us know what happened also one last thing is that a scan tool like this isn't intended to be the same as a $10,000 scan tool there are limitations I'm going to buy one just to test and I will let you know what I think as well I have an expensive Matco scan tool but I'm always looking for new diagnostic tools
@@matolittleelkwells5377 yes its all update it wouldn't do regen on sprinter it just froze and leaving the sprinter revving on its own even with devise disconnected so i had to stop the van and then it wouldn't start after that i had to use my friends scanner which done it straight away same with ford transit it crashes scanning 2016 golf and crashes on 2015 vitara my friends icarsoft scanned them no prob so wot does that tell you i messaged support the only one they sorted out was the vitara only because i messaged the seller and he got onto them
Most likely it will however and this is important for anyone using one of these tools to change ECU settings. Always take your phone and take a photo of what the values are before you change anything. Therefore, if you screw something up you have a photograph of the correct original settings and can reprogram those back in. Your phone is your friend. I use this method on any settings on anything that I am changing even when I am disassembling something. If you learn this technique you'll learn that your phone is your most valuable friend and backing up things that you otherwise would screw up.
I have an AI Croft 20 for my Range Rover Vogue l322 it does work quite well I want to get another diagnostic tool so I can do remapping myself laminate super lock itself on the driver's door and the SAS is playing up your computer doesn't recognise you at the moment I've got a new one to put in old fashioned mechanic trying to learn new tricks just need some help drink it speak to you soon
Do you know if the D7 can program an all-keys-lost (no keys!) for a USA 2000 Lexus RX300? Yes, I've contacted XTool a few days ago, but I have not received a reply. Time is of the essence, to I'm checking all avenues.
For my Lexus Es 350 2012, every time the battery cable is off the security & immobiliser is triggered so the car won't start unless I erase the code. Does xtool 7 support that. or I need a D8? Many thanks
Hi I have an LT 35 2.4 tdi, Most scanners will not connect? I have changed the ECU unit? The old one would not send power to the injector pump fuel solonoid, I changed it and it operated the solonoid but I cannot connect to get the Faults on the injector pump changed. So I am in the process of just changing the fuel injector pump. Again the obd plug is round!. it has round plugs one of which I did buy and it still does not connect to vehicle. can you advise Please.
Yes... after your 3 yrs of updates. It will still work but just not for newer vehicles that would require the update. So out of the box it should be good for 2022 and earlier models
A lot of people just buy another tool. So you could use for a couple years without updates and you could get by. Then buy a new tool, probably need to upgrade by then anyways
It can clear it but it likely will reoccur. Check the actual parking brake cable to make sure that it has a deteriorated or that something under the vehicle isn't binding with it. Remember that this type of tool is used to identify issues it cannot fix a physical defect or impingement.
Yes it does for most of the vehicles but keep in mind if it works like most of these the original mileage is left in backup on the vehicle in case you're doing this to screw a future buyer of your vehicle.
Any chance you could do a video using a vauxhall and watch this tool do fuck all ,if im fixing a porsche i wouldnt be using a budget scan tool with broken english and spelling mistakes
i cant reccommend this scan tool at this moment hopefully this feeling changes becasue i believed in this product from all the high praises i seen it recieve over the last few months but "BUYER BEWARE" thats not been my case 😔
I have just watched your review of the Xtool D7 machine. It didn't cover the topic of key programming. I would like to know if it Can program keys? How much functionality does it have. Are there any models of cars it can't do? I would like to know before I go ahead and purchase one from the Amazon link below the video.
