Player: "The quality of my fleets speaks for themselves" The fleets: "Ray (Useless)"🤔 That Barracuda pilot (you know which one) is going to need to be transferred to engineering after that performance. I'm amazed it survived! Pretty solid performance for the fleet, only one loss for an I and 2 Ks.
Well, as you saw, the Rays were like the supporters of a sports team..."Yay, we won! 🥳Nope, THEY won, YOU just watch 🤨". 😁 As for that Baracuda pilot, yeap, that was some ultra instinct shit. 😲
@@ragnos28 The main purpose of Ray is to completely immobilize the target. They can bring K's and I's to full stop and keep them in that state. Let's not forget that boron main battery slowing down it's target. They not useless, they just different.🤔
@@РоманКостыря-л5ь The slowdown effect is not that usefull, imo. Ks and Is have the tendency to slow down anyway when being hit by torpedo bombers, and those will be on target faster that the Rays ever could, dispite giving the atack orders to the destroyers first. Besides, I lost plenty of Rays, doe to them travel driving right in front of the xenon capitals, totally throwing away their distance advantage, so I actually prefer to not involve them in capital ship engagements.
So Boron is more about fast attack guerrilla type action where the other fleets are more heavy combat and siege. Would love to see a combined fleet type video where you use each of the racial fleets in what you believe their optimal role is.
Imo, in regards of fleet combat, boron have three "stars": the Mako interceptor, the excelent M ship - the Hydra as torpedo bomber, and, not featured in this video, the Irukandji scout used as S torpedo bomber. And from those, the Hydra is the best M ship that can be used as torpedo bomber, imo. Usually, M ships as torpedo bombers are a "guarantee loss" type of weapon, as in, yeah you will lose a few, but you're desperate. Not the Hydra tho, I don't recall losing one to capital ships, in none of the boron fleet engagements, I think is do to its speed and shape. Also, I think I could have achieve the same result like in the clip with just the Shark + 40 Mako interceptor + 40 Irukandji torpedo bombers (actually did it before: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HEwJ0hcWByw.html), but like I said in the description, I wanted to tickle my aesthetic sense by featuring as many boron ship types as posible.
@@ragnos28 In regards to Hydra - it's one of the best corvets in the game, in my opinion. I think you don't lose one of them not just do to it's speed, but also shield as well. With 26k it can take a few hits from a destroyer.
@@РоманКостыря-л5ь Also I think their shape helps. I've tried to use Nemesis as bombers, based on their slim frame, but they would still eat that graviton turret fire.
I've asign to each Guppy, 8 torpedo Baracuda on bombard. I gave the Guppies an atack order, in order for them to aproach capitals ships, once they reach a distance lower that 40 km from the capitals, the stored Baracuda will engage the capitals. The role of the Guppies is that they allow me not to waste precios docking space on the Shark flagship with the substandard fighter that is the Baracuda, and they provide free repairs and safety for their asign bombers, when they are docked, with their turrets and shields.
Hi, Because I always have a soft spot for gatling type weapons, and the boron one have such unique sound and visuals. I tend to favor looks and sound effects that I consider appealing, over efficiency.
I would not say beat, because of the firepower difference (2 weapon slots vs 4/5 of Moreya and Chimera), but right out there with them in regards of survivability rate.
@@ragnos28 Considering just how many more guns the Chimera and Moreya have, i'd expect the Boron ships to have much higher survivability :/ . Especially the Barracuda, compared to the Chimera it just seems kinda bad. It's slower, has less firepower, has around the same total hitpoints. The only saving grace seems to be manueverability, but even that only matters IS afaik. Not too sure about the Mako
@@LoafOfBaguetteThe Baracuda is the worst fighter in the game with its abysmal 156 m/s. The Ares considered also a slow mo, is like a race car in comparison, 210 m/s if I'm not mistaken. Mako on the other hand, has 315 m/s, hence its succes as an interceptor. In X4, for fighters, speed = life, the lower the speed the lower the survival rate. And Mako also have low price on its side 1.5 kk vs 5kk a Chimera (don't know the cost of the Moreya).
@@ragnos28 Makes sense the Barracuda is the worst fighter, the statsheet is just awful. I like using mainly Moreyas because they are stupid cheap to build for how powerful they are in combat. I can pump out fleets of them for close to nothing from my wharf. They also don't require any of the weird/unique materials that Boron and Terran ships take. Also the Moreya puts most other fighters to shame when it comes to speed. Slapping some cheap engines on one gets you 500-600 speed; and if you decide to put split mk3's on them then you're looking at 700+ speed
